One big difference between Gerry Studds and Mark Foley.

The Democratic-controlled House Ethics committee exposed the Studds affair, and the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives censured him (even though the young man involved had engaged in consensual acts and was over the age of consent). Lets compare and contrast, shall we? Mark Foley's victim (and that is the proper word - the kid found Foley's advances "Sick, sick, sick") was 15 years old, and the Republican-controlled House of Representatives did shit. The Speaker of the House was aware of Foley's behavior for over a year, and tried to sweep it under the rug. The Republican-controlled Ethics committee did nothing, in fact, the sole Democratic member of the committee wasn't even informed of the charges. If the Repugs want to try and draw a corollary between the two events, well, in the immortal words of our chickenhawk-in-chief, "Bring it on."

Rush is saying that the damage control is all that's important, that the GOP now doesn't have time to "fix" the problem, apparently. I guess that's sooo much more important than the welfare of the kids who were harassed by Foley.

Studds: 30 years ago Democrats learned and disclosed legal, but unethical, sexual activities with a page by a fellow Democrat.

Foley: today Republicans tried to hide illegal sexual activities with a page by a fellow Republican.
