Oh, we are gonna win big. |
|
On Sunday they replayed the Montana senate debate between Burns and Tester. I swear to God, you can actually watch Burns implode on tape.
And I'd just say, if the gop can't carry Montana, they are SCREWED!!
They think they can carry even Virginia? - LMAO.
We win in a few more weeks.
Joe
Tester made this comment in that debate - I thought was really funny - about the 2nd amendement, the right to "bear arms". He said, (paraphasing) that since the patriot act passed we better make sure we keep that right available. He got good applause to that.

1. Actually, it's not true about Montana |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-02-06 05:48 PM by Tempest
Montana's governorship and state legislature went Democrat in 2004 by large margins.
Burns' approval rating has been below 50% for what seems like forever.
Burns' defeat has been predicted by political pundits in Montana for more than a year according to a friend of mine there who closely follows Montana politics.

3. I sure never thought we could win Montana |
|
And it sure wasn't in the dems "win" column.
Watch that debate. We win in Montana.
Tester is a really good politician. He Kicked Burn's ass, really did.
And then Burns imploded. He is just as much a nut as I ever thought - and it really showed.
We win Montana - and if that is so, we will win Virginia, too.
I think the gop nightmare scenario is playing out right now.

When he said he didn't want to weaken the patriot act he wants to get rid of it, I damn near cried. What I did do was send that patriot some money!

we have a long way to go until we win big.
The rethugs have a 58 million dollar edge in money. That's not the amount they have, that's the amount they have over us.
We will see attack ads like we have never seen before. Their GOTV machine is far superior than ours, their databases are far more sophisticated then ours to target the fence sitter voter.
We better not think just because a pervert got outed in the Congress it will change peoples mind except for his district.
It's going to a dandy of an election this year. We better be prepard to work our asses off.

9. Man, thats not why were gonna win. |
|
It is just an extension of it.
And we need to work our asses off - I'm not saying we don't.
BUT - we are gonna win. And I don't care how much money they have to try and use "propaganda" otherwise - it is just too little too late.
They made a judgement a long time ago that americans were pretty stupid - that they really could use fear as a conditioned response - really they did.
Well, I guess not.
We are a society born in revolution. We are also the society that invented "run out on a rail" type politics. We are.
This is just Karma right now. And we who suffered these years are going to get to see that truly -"What goes around comes around"
I think winning is more an attitude.

But for god's sake don't overrate Rove. He is just a bald fat man from Texas, really.
One thing we do know, the "default" story for the next five weeks is Iraq.
Maybe another thing we know, Bill Clinton is going to take him on right now - head to head. You really think a bald fat man from Texas even has a chance against Bill??
I don't.
You know, when General Grant came to command the Army of the Potomac - he heard commanders saying Lee was gonna do this and that. He said - I don't want to hear what Lee is going to do to us - what are you gonna do to Lee? And that is how he won the war.
I think that is exactly where we find ourselves.

I'm worried, though. We've been here before. Can't let up for a second, or Rove will scoot something through and we will be screwed.

12. I am more than hopeful - I believe it. |
|
Rove can roll all over the whitehouse lawn -
It won't make a difference.
He is going to be unemployed pretty soon.
And his boss is going to be - "looking out for that rail with his name on it".
So to speak.

I'm very hopeful. The Democratic Party has a great opportunity here to get control of the House, maybe the Senate. But we've been here before and failed to cash in our chips at the proper time.
Maybe we had the wrong messenger, maybe the message was wrong. Maybe we didn't have equal access to the MSM. Maybe the elections were stolen. Whatever. It's President Bush, not President Gore. President Bush, not President Kerry. And a Republican, not a Democratic Congress.
So while I am hopeful, I will do my "believing" after the election. Otherwise, I am just setting myself up for heartache.
Donate to the D Party. Volunteer. Write LTTEs. And for Gosh sakes, VOTE.
That is all.

13. When you say Burns imploded, how do you mean?? |
|
Also, I realize Montana's trending Democratic/libertarian/populist, but what made Burns so weak as an incumbent?

When he was on stage - after a while - he could not keep still - at all. Every time Tester got to him, he kept "wondering" over the stage. Everytime Tester got to him he stuttered- "drifted". Tester had very still body language - Burns lost it every step. Like Burns knew he was losing it and tried to compensate - but at every step he kept falling further and Tester rose further.
You kind of have to see it to understand it, I think. He was - more senile with each answer - you know??
Burns lost his one, I am very sure.

15. I will say our chances have improved considerably... |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-02-06 08:56 PM by cynatnite
It wasn't that long ago they said our chances at the house was a longshot at best and there was no way we'd get the senate.
Here in TN Ford and Corker are pretty well tied. Corker put out an ad that basically called Ford a liberal. Laughable, I know, because Ford is anything but that.
Ford retaliated pretty quickly with a good ad targetting Corker's hiring of illegals. Here in TN that won't go over too well.
I'm not a big fan of Ford, but I think his chances are good. Maybe they're better now with this Foley stuff coming out.
Let's keep our feet on the ground and focus on the prize.
