Anyone who believes that this will be the death knell of Republicans in the mid-terms is smoking crack. Nobody gives a feces about this scandal other than bloggers and the MSM, as Foley is not on the ballot in all Congressional races. Conservatives will shrug and continue to vote for their Republican candidates. Foley resigned quickly, that right there alone killed off half of the Dim/MSM future talking points, plotting, and strategy. Even the Dim candidate down in FL won't win. The district is solidly Republican.

That is utterly ridiculous. DOJ is independent of the House. There is no reason they cannot investigate this. We do not need to incur the horrendous expense of an unfettered investigation of everything under the sun. My only concern would be how well DOJ would handle it.

- Oh for fucks sake, YES there needs to be a INDEPENDENT PROSECUTOR. The House is occupied by a majority of Repukes, like that would be a fair investigation. If the allowed the DOJ to investigate then all Foley and his henchmen would get is a slap on the wrist.
