18. It's comforting to watch them self-destruct.
I hate that it had to come to this, but it's about time that their law-breaking, scheming, lying and perverted behavior came home to roost. It never should have been allowed to get as far as it has.

23. How much you want to bet that Sibel Edmond's info is about to go
nuclear?

Easier to get rid of Hasteret over the mishandling of a sex scandal, than what's about to hit the fan.

Boehner becomes Speaker? The irony, that after a scandal like this someone named Boehner would assume the Speakership.

Christopher Shays should take over as speaker until we vote them out.

Ron Paul should take over as majority leader.

27. Can anybody please explain to me
Why was it that the first person up the food chain this mess got referred to was Reynolds, whose position was chairman of the Campaign Committee? Walk through the logic:
A) sick child-predator scandal lands in sponsoring rep's lap
B) he runs to the campaign committee to ask what to do with it
C) WTF???
D) prima facie case for cover-up, no?

He didn't exactly scoop everyone on this whole mess, and IIRC, didn't really acknowledge it for (in Internets terms) for quite a while.

As usual, he's someone's mouthpiece by proxy.

He's gone, ergo so is the Republican corruption problem. I don't trust the Washington Times and Rev. Moonie Loonie as far as I can throw them.

That is CORRUPTION in all caps. You can't spin it. Also, AFAIC, Boehner might get his hiney kicked out, too, because he conspired with Hastert to keep a lid on the Foley situation.

would the Republicans be sitting on this for this long and then fall on the sword right before the election?

Are they committing suicide out of fear of death?

Is a "sex scandal"(you know that's how they'll frame it) easier to blame a resounding loss on than all the things we Democrats have been talking about?

Is this a "mea culpa" to the base?

Are they trying to look like they're cleaning up themselves so there is no need to let the Dems do it?

Or is it really just karma catching up on them at the most inopportune time?

Maybe something more nefarious coming (like a terra attack) that will allow the suspension of elections?

40. Hastert resigning........I'll believe it when I see it.
His fat ass is firmly wedged in this seat. It would take a hell of alot to pry him out. I live next to his district and it is RED. I drove through the rural part of his district and came upon, totally out of the blue, a billboard that said in big letters......

U.S. OUT OF THE U.N. NOW! In the middle of fucking nowhere! What is up with that!

GET US OUT OF THE UN -- giant letters to cover the whole side of a barn. That's the only paint those barns ever saw. That was back in the 1950s and 1960s.
