Rumsfeld: Venezuela Build-Up Is Concern
Rumsfeld: Venezuela Build-Up Is Concern

By LOLITA C. BALDOR

MANAGUA, Nicaragua (AP) - The recent military build-up in Venezuela by U.S. nemesis President Hugo Chavez has other countries in the region worried that the weapons could end up in the hands of terrorists, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Monday.

"I can understand neighbors being concerned," said Rumsfeld, who is attending a meeting of Western hemisphere military leaders here this week.

Venezuela's defense minister Gen. Raul Isaias Baduel, who is also attending the meeting, said Monday that his country's recent military spending spree wasn't "an arms race," despite Washington's protests.

"I have spoken to Mr. Rumsfeld to convince him that he should try smoking Venezuela's good tobacco," Baduel told the Associated Press. "He said he doesn't smoke, that his wife wouldn't let him."

So are they setting us up for an invasion of Venezuela now?

2. Rumsfeld is senile.
He has about as much credibility as a convicted felon serving a life sentence.

5. The same question applies here as for invading Iran:
With what army? Ours is already spoken for, as least as long as The Decider is in office.

8. With a US financed mercenary army recruited from
Ecuador, Paraguay, Colombia and Peru, trained by retired military "private contractors", financed with the 7-8 billion dollars the military "lost" in Iraq, and all being done under the radar to avoid accountability?

Privatizing war is not only the logical extension of the Bush administration's mania for contracting everything out to the private sector; it also shields the White House's activities from the U.S. Congress.

There, how's that for a crazy tinfoil idea? ;)
