Too many of you people are in awe of ROVE, and it has to stop!
Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 02:59 AM by MrScorpio
Why? Why, I ask, are you letting this bully rain on your parade?

Do you like getting beaten up? Having your panties pulled in a bunch? Pushed up against the lockers?

I don't know about you, but I hate bullies, and loved to face the fuckers down. It's how I found out that I had such a horrible temper as a child. And unless my friends had not pulled my hands from around some bully's neck, I would have done some terrible things.

Needless to say, I've come to grips with my temper, and its no longer an issue.

For the bullies however, once they got wind of what I was capable of, they realized that I was not one to be fucked with. That gave me space to develop into the nice and sweet guy that we all know and love. My friends got the message too; stand up against them and stand together.

Rove is a bully of the worst kind. But he's not invincible.

You want to stop a bully? It's simple, all you have to do is stand up against him together. Face him down. A bully's greatest tool is FEAR. Once you take that away from him, he has nothing. He's left to flee in the face of superior firepower.

Rove is not behind every nook and cranny and sometimes a scandal is just a scandal, not some grand plot.

Yesterday, I imparted one simple piece of advice regarding Masturgate; exploit it. Paint as many repugs with the paint of scandal as much as possible. This is their problem. And when they counter with Clinton and Studds, laugh in their faces and call them ridiculous. Remind them that Clinton didn't get caught with an underage boy, and Studds was an anomaly compared to the long list of Republican perverts.

Here's that list: Memorize it and throw it back in their faces. Point it out that Republicans are NOTORIOUS for this kind of shit.

http://www.dkosopedia.com/wiki/Republican_Sex_Scandals

That fucker is as my arm and nowhere in there will you find some Republican "Mastermind" pulling the strings. What we have here is glaringly obvious, a gaggle of hypocritical, Republican perverts elected to serve the people, only to betray those fine, upstanding and moral folks who were stupid enough to swallow their bullshit and put them into office in the first place.

Foley is more of the same.

Now... The last thing I want to hear is more of this "Rove is behind this" bullshit. What it is, is par for the Republican course.

Don't give in to the fear.

I ask you, would you trust your kid around a Republican? Ask them.

You know the answer.

3. Rove is not Santa Claus
He's not the Easter Bunny either. He's not *everywhere* with his dirty little fingers in *everything*. He's just a stupid, GOP political jerk, just like all the rest of the stupid, GOP political jerks. The whole bunch of them act only in the political sphere, and only in *reactive* mode. They do not have the capability of orchestrating anything more than simplistic attack pieces.

Rove is like the Wizard of OZ. He sits behind the curtain making huge pronouncements with lots of fire and storm and fury. But he is for all intent and purposes, powerless.

What gives Karl Rove power are people who run around flailing and screeching about all these alleged Rovian plots.

Don't give him any power. Laugh in his face and ignore him.

23. He protects Bush so Bush gives him power.
If he was so good Bush would be better liked. I think one feeds on the other. Each has the job or thinks they do because of each other. Rove's power will fall as Bush comes down and we know Bush will blame it on Rove. So I am sure this makes Rove even more mean as he wants to stay in power. Bush does not get it yet that the people will take him down even with Rove with him. Course he may leave office first but he will still go down in peoples minds.

Scratch a bully, find a coward. People act as if Rove is some kind of invincible god. He's not. As I said in another thread earlier, he's not a fucking genius; he's a fucking bully. And as long as people keep running scared, as long as they keep reacting in fear, the bully can keep doing whatever he wants.

But if people stand up to the bully, if they stand together, the bully will collapse, or implode or run away. As long as people stand together, they can create a formidable force; but if you let fear get the best of you, and scatter to the winds, you are left alone, and the bully wins.

I do not live my life in fear. Yes, Rove has done things, Bush has done things, the Republicans have done things (such as that fucking disgusting vote last week to take away huge chunks of our rights), and those things scare me. But I am not going to run away; I'm going to fight, and the more of us who stand and fight together, the better our chances.

As for Rove, pffffth! Fucking asshole bully. I refuse to run away in fear. How about the rest of you?

11. I agree, bro
It's ridiculous to treat Rove as someone w/ supernatural powered meatpuppet-master; he's not.

This is Rove's nightmare, one he can't control. He's not masterminding Foley's sex scandal, and I can't believe I even have to say that. And I've been known to wear a few tin foil hats..

12. I never saw him as a bully
More like an evil genius, a la Lex Luthor — but not that, either, because Lex Luthor hired stooges to implement his deviousness. Stooges hire Rove, and his "genius" is limited to ratfucking — which he didn't invent, but merely took to new levels of evil.

Rove isn't any different than the rest of them. He's just the one they put their trust in.

One other thing: Rove has never, ever, had to face a Superman.

40. Oeditpus Rex has the closest description I've seen for Rove

Rove's been in politics for a long, long time, and he's a right winger. He works in the background, in the dark, secret shadows. His "genious" is evil, only because people are basically sheep and will believe the twists and turns. He knows how stupid Bush is and uses it accordingly, and also knows how to manipulate the press, the public, the congress.

No, he didn't plan this Foley scandal... and his schtick is about over. But I'm sick of the persons on DU who criticize others for giving old Fat Ass credit for the state of the country. His reputation didn't exactly come from DU'ers.

anyway.... it's not working for him anymore.

13. I'm reminded of the words of General Grant (roughly):
“I am heartily tired of hearing about what Lee is going to do*. Some of you always seem to think he is suddenly going to turn a double somersault and land in our rear and on both of our flanks at the same time. Go back to your commands, and try to think about what we are going to do instead of wondering what Lee is going to do.”

...But keep (the bulk of) the cavalry close.

*: might be going to do; might be in process of doing. And, of course, Grant was thinking about what Lee might do -- but he didn't want his officers' concerns (unnecessary, disproportionate, etc, concerns; their fear of Lee) to unduly influence their thinking, decisions and acts. Once you let the other side mess with ("get into") your head, the battle is already half-lost (perspective, perception, judgement, etc, become distorted; you become disadvantaged -- unnecessarily disadvantaged).

21. exactly... and as some cautionary advise to the Dems
at the moment it looks like the Dems are poised to take control of Congress

between the GOP rubberstamping enablers of bush, corruption (abramoff etc) and a pedophile scandal - it does appear the GOPers are toast

There is definitly a "throw the bums out" and a cry to change the course which is helping the Dems.

Much will be expected of the Dems should we succeed in getting them into office. The Dem leadership in and out of Congress needs to pay alot of attention to this.

People are expecting results and a change.

people are also expecting accountability and see a willingness to take responsibility. This means the Dem leadership must clean their houses. Get out front immediately and hold their members to a higher standard - else they'll be mired in the same mudhole as the GOPers are now in.

the dems have found their spine - they need to keep firmly in place. yes, they will be swift-boated by the GOP and that makes it even more important to stand up.

27. I've been wondering if "Rovian" has become an empty modifier.
Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 07:55 AM by Pacifist Patriot
Do the people who use it literally mean Karl Rove orchestrated something? Or do they mean it metaphorically?

I've seen Rove screw up "brilliant" political ploys he was supposedly legitimately responsible for so I can't give him credit for being a genius. I think he misplays just as much as any political hack.

So to me, even though I don't use the term, "Rovian" has now come to mean a weird political coincidence whether it is in favor of the Republicans OR the Democrats. Sort of like a metaphysical joke on the politicians who have the arrogance to think they CAN control all events.

But that's just me. I'm weird that way. ;)

28. Hear, hear!
As Randi Rhodes says, it's not difficult to do what Rove does.

It's easy to take the low road, to play on people's fears, to create unnecessary panic.

It's easy to appeal to racists and homophobes. Hell, the racists been waiting all these years for someone who agrees with them.

It's easy to use the power of two whole branches of the government to bludgeon your political opposition at the expense of good governance.

It's easy to use a compliant and deferential media to get out your message of hate while pointing the finger of blame at Democrats, liberals and moderates.

You're right, he's no genius.

In fact, he's an idiot.
