Imus swooning over Jerry Lee Lewis. Timing seems a little odd.
Jerry Lee Lewis is on Imus this morning, and Imus actually said, "I feel like I'm meeting Jesus." Just seems a little strange with the Foley thing, since Lewis was once considered the original pedophile!

These two old farts are funny. Both deaf, so they keep saying to each other..."Huh??" (and I can make fun of that because I'm an old fart too.)

1. Subtle attempt to show that things like marrying your 13 year old cousin
not a bad thing? Actually I don't remember if she was his cousin. But I'll bet somebody drags out the Elvis-Priscilla story next, if they haven't already.

2. Imus has been pimping this visit from Jerry Lee Lewis
for weeks now. The old curmudgeon is genuinely excited. I don't believe there's any conspiracy to de-Foley-ate MSNBC.

10. No, no...me either. Didn't mean to make it sound like a conspiracy.
I just love the irony. :)

4. Can't say I blame the swooning
I know, I know, it's not often I try to avoid the political side of things, especially when discussing Don "Damn You, Howard Stern, You Took All My Blow Money!" Imus, but Jerry Lee Lewis is a legend in Rock & Roll, and one of the last living originators, aside from Little Richard, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, etc. I'd probably be giddy if I had a chance to talk to the Killer, too. But that's just me.

7. He was one of the original cra-aaaa-zy men of rock....
Stomping the keyboard with his feet, long hair flying, oooooooooh baby! Great Balls o' Fire!

11. He's doing that one now...of course no stomping action.
But the pipes are still great! Amazingly so, in fact.

9. He looks pretty good. Obviously has had some "work done", but
fortunately they didn't Burt Reynold's him.

I'm not trying to diminish his status, he is one of the original Kings for certain. I just had to chuckle at the irony of the timing.

I didn't know he was still alive. Actually I didn't know either one of them was still alive.

Cheers

12. Me either.
In fact, I thought I'd heard that the "Killer" had DIED finally and for real a few years ago?

Guess that was a rumor (spread by one of his abused & angry exes?).

I guess I just never could get past the fact that he displayed such horrific contempt instead of RESPECT for the PIANOS ... I was brought up a classical pianist so what he did just didn't sit right with me. Pounding the keyboards like he did did not qualify as "music" to me, either. At one time I used to say he probably couldn't even PLAY a piano properly! :D

Can't deny I enjoyed Great Balls o' Fire, though. (Shhh! Don't tell anybody!)

And it really was his cousin he married -- her age is given sometimes as 13 and sometimes as 14. I think he was about 27 or 29 at the time.

She also didn't stay married to him for long, did she?

I remember about 20 years ago when Jerry Lee split a gut (literally) from all his drinking and nearly died but was saved by emergency room surgeons, I thought, "Well, he finally drank himself to death after all!"

14. He did die a few years ago.
It's just going to take him a little longer to settle down.

6. Hope the "I man" asks "The Killer" about the dead 16 year old girl
in his pool in the 1970s.

13. Jerry Lee Lewis is a bad man
And not in that good way. Oh yeah. He can do amazing things with a piano and he can outperform just about anybody. He's still a cold-blooded snake.
