Can't get fooled again.

The media is again focusing on "some conservatives'" call to remove Dennis Hastert as Speaker of the House. Even some liberal voices are watching that with interest. We haven't learned our lesson and we will get burned again!

Remember just a couple of weeks ago when Republican mavericks stood up against the Bush Administration's call to legalize torture and Kangaroo courts? Remember the media attention they got for standing up against Bush? And then remember how they quietly made a deal with Bush, giving him everything he wanted?

This will be the same. The Republicans are making a big show for the cameras. When the dust settles, Hastert will (at most) be sent for training in juvenile sex abuse matters, and he will be allowed to keep his seat. The Republicans will be remembered for being so vocal. The Democrats will get few points.

2. I hope you are right.

It just seems to me that a Republican, faced witht he choice between Satan and a Democrat, will choose Satan.
However, if the American people go after Republicans the same way they went after Catholic Priests and Bishops, perhaps we will have a shot at ousting Hastert.
