1. Not necessarily

A woman might not be anymore accountable than a man when it comes to covering something up for politcal reasons.

2. It would change the climate
from one of 'male privilege'. which is a big part of the problem, imo.

3. Condi Rice might be a woman.
Though somewhat doubtful. As a rule, women don't seem to want to mess around with minors, however. Most women are too busy to have time to play around with talking dirty on the internet.

6. And don't forget "Hurricane" Harris
With women like that, enabling these fucked up men, and doing everything and anything to keep them in power, I don't think the solution of more women in government is going to work.

IMO, its outmoded thinking. The solution needs to be a cultural one, and such a solution can only happen with education of both men and women on these kinds of subject.

Its sad to say, but women aren't the solution, not when so many are ready to attach themselves like barnacles to the ass of the slimiest, sexist, racist men in the world.

9. Where the hell did you come up with this?
"As a rule, women don't seem to want to mess around with minors"

Uh, obviously you have not been paying attention to the news for a while. Seems to have been a glut of women messing with minors.

The sad fact is that a female/minor tends to get less coverage than male/minor relationships. You could in fact see the distinction in the difference in the treatment the two groups receive right here. A good example is the Deborah Lafave case.

11. Yes i'll call it a glut.
Truth is there have been more reportings of it the past few years than i can ever remember in my life.

Theres a big double standard on this subject. If an older woman has relations with a younger man the young man is often perceived as lucky. Where as when an older man has a relationship with a young woman, it is automatically declared abuse.

12. how many - two or three? name more than that.
I agree there's a double standard in people's perception. But asserting there has been a 'glut' where there's not isn't going to change that perception. The truth is that MOST people who have been molested as children, have been molested by men. Most, not all. I'm not male bashing, simply stating a fact. Trying to make it out to be otherwise is as desperate the republicans saying 'look the Dems are corrupt too'.

The issue here is people abusing their power to get sex. While women can certainly do that, I think that more gender balance in congress would go a long, long way to making people behave decently - at least on this issue.

15. Are you kidding me?
Look, I think you're right about the prevalence of female on male child sex abuse but "The sad fact is that a female/minor tends to get less coverage than male/minor relationships."????

Come the fuck on! The coverage was non-stop about Lafave. Any time a "hot" teacher has sex with a male student the news is on it like stink on Rush's armpits. They still haven't shut up about Mary Kay Letorneau.

Plus I don't recall seeing a lot of sympathy toward female predators on this board. Most of the commentary has been stupid crap like "When I was 14 I would have loved to bang my teacher!"

18. No I didn't
You claimed there was no coverage of female predators. I'm saying the opposite is true. I don't approve the titillating character of it at all. Women who sexually abuse boys should be regarded the same way as men. But our sexist, appearance-obsessed culture can't get beyond "she's hot!" in situations like the Lafave one. When you are trained from birth to view women as the sex objects of the world as most of us are, it's hard to break out of that even when it should have no bearing on the issue.

Don't blame me for that, dude. I didn't make the rules.

19. Ah, but again you are wrong.
I stated that there have been more reportings recently (in the past few years) than at any other time in my life. We seem to be somewhat on the same page, as we at least do disagree with the double standard that does indeed exist. We might also agree that the Lafave story was big because of the whole "beautiful blonde" syndrome we have in this country.

A more clear reference for me may have been too my knowledge more male/minor stories "were" reported. This i feel was because of the double standard place on how the two groups were viewed.

Good example was my first wife. I was only 15 when we married, actually had to go to another state to get it done. No one thought it strange, in fact all i ever heard of it was bragging and pats on the back. I was perceived almost like a "super" alpha male because at a young age i was able to capture a much older woman.

4. Ideally, but most go through the same socialization process to get there.
But, yes, I think this sort of thing would get punished more promptly and harshly with more women in Congress.

5. I have to agree up to a.....
point. There are female type Foley's in the world. Just google about the women teachers that marry their students. That is just as sick. But yes the climate would change for the better with more women in charge.

8. Not the point
I'm talking about the 'climate' that occurs when there is a balance of men and women in a workplace. It's a lot more civilized.
