They didn't even have to have an agreement that this would be Hush Money. All they had to do is realize that Foley was funneling anything more than chump change into their political bank accounts, and that the longer he remained in office, the more money they got. That isn't a legal opinion, but it makes sense behaviorally. Too bad for them that they will ultimately be remembered for giving $$$ a higher priority than the welfare of the pages. I love watching te bastards self-destruct.

Until there isn't a serious investigation, the clear answer is yes ;). A post from kpete: "Looking at Foley’s campaign fund, I noticed something. His contributions to the NRCC changed over the last three election cycles. 2002-$35,826 LINK http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/expendetail.asp ?... 2004-$15,000 LINK http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/expendetail.asp ?... 2006-$115,000 LINK http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/expendetail.asp ?... Hmm, what changed in 2005-06 cycle? Oh, yeah, those pesky emails. http://www.firedoglake.com/2006/10/01/whats-100k-betwee ... "

6. I don't think it was the money. I think Foley has better dirt on Hastert. |

I think that Republicans use blackmail as one way to keep one another in line.
They actively seek ways to put one another into compromising positions, so that they can then blackmail their fellow congressmen into obedience.
Prostitutes at poker games with defense contractors?
Under-age child sex workers getting midnight VIP tours of The White House under George H. Bush?
Jeff Gannon's 19 sleep-overs at The White House with George W. Bush?
You know why Hastert didn't say anything?
It's because a pedophilia scandal among Republickers is no big deal. It's small potatoes compared to the other stuff they keep hidden.
Have you seen the bumper sticker that says, "I'd rather go hunting with Dick Cheney than driving with Ted Kennedy"?
Next time you see one, tell them to forget hunting with Dick Cheney. Tell them to send their kid to be a page for a Republicker instead.
I'd rather go driving with Ted Kennedy than let my kid have dinner with a Republicker.
It's time for Pope Hastert and the rest of the Greedy Olde Pedohiles to pack-up their bags and retire to spend more time molesting their families.
