As of 10:50 am TODAY-Foley Still Logging Into Chat WIth Same Screen Name
Foley still logging into chat with screen name linked to scandal

RAW STORY
Published: Tuesday October 3, 2006

Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) was still using the America Online Instant Message screen name now associated with attempts to solicit underage boys, RAW STORY has learned.

As recently as 10:50 AM EST today, Foley signed onto the chat service AIM using the screen name Maf54.

The login was used in now-public emails and instant messages with underage boys.

Foley signed on only briefly this morning, but has reportedly continued to use the screen name occasionally as the scandal surrounding it unfolds publicly.

1. I noticed that too
Thought it was incredibly creepy. Does he not realize that thousands of people have probably added his name to their buddy lists just for fun?

18. Probably what happened is, he's still at home
And when he went to AOL or whatever service he's using, it automatically logged him in. Before I shut off Yahoo Messenger, it would do that, and I would get instant messages even though I didn't realize I was logged in.

10. Could it be someone else who claimed his name as their own?
I thought he scrapped all his connections to AIM?

13. Doesn't work that way
You can't just give your screenname out and make it open to people. Someone would have to know his password to log in.

Although, for all we know, it could be simple as someone guessing his password. We all know Foley's not the smartest in the world, his password is probably "password".

20. I rarely play with AOL stuff
Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 10:26 AM by blogslut
...because it sucks. Just the same, the times I've tried to chat with others on that crappy AIM, I found it to be case-sensitive when it comes to screen names. Isn't Foley's nick: Maf54 as opposed to maf54? AOL users, tell me what's up.

I saw that the claim is that Foley was using AOL services and software. I can't find absolute confirmation that Foley's email address was indeed Maf54@aol.com. Only links I see claiming it was AOL were freeper (like LGF). Was Foley using AIM instead of Yahoo or MSN? Anybody got a link?
