Your history classes should have done a much better job. I knew that stuff already but I thought it was very well done, however I think that sometimes they showed states fading away when they hadn't really faded away yet.

9. I loved Alexander and the Mongols |
|
They had to back the map up to show Alexander, and then they really had to back the map up to show the Mongols. Go Genghis!

26. the hoardes was a good time |
|
What a ride it must have been to, in one lifetime, take armies across asia like that.
The empires i knew the least about were the first kingdom of israel, 'the caliphate' which i really never knew existed, and 'the ottoman empire'.
The map does not show the extent of european colonialism to the east...

12. Hmm, somewhat dubious in places |
|
such as the huge 'Kingdom of Israel', for which the Bible is the only evidence. Strange to clump all of "European Colonialism" together, as well.

Or do they not count because borders haven't changed much?

18. I hate when people treat the Bible like a history book |
|
and, as for the "European Colonialism" being lumped together, I would remind you that they covered thousands of years in a minute and a half, so each flash of control in that period would be a fraction of a second.

22. Fun, but "Iran, 1979?" |
|
1979 Was the Iranian Revolution against the Shah, but Iran was an indepedent state long before Khomeini came into power.

After watching that, it seems almost logical that the US would be the next in line at trying to control the region.
