Society's treatment of children is unacceptable!

When someone posted an article about a woman who left her kids in a grocery store I wasn't very understanding. The woman abandoned her children. When I read the post about corporal punishment in schools, I certainly don't accept other people putting their hands on my kids in order to 'discipline' them. With the latest abuses and killing of children in the news, including an article I posted about the torture of a 15 year old boy, all of this has absolutely gotten to me.

As human beings so many in society have treated children as if they are baggage or no better than a pest we prefer to ignore or even worse. These incidents should remind us of not only how vulnerable our children are, but also how precious we should consider them.

Children, whose only crime was to go to school, learn about our government, born in the wrong country, have the wrong color of skin or even be the wrong sex are paying an unacceptable price.

It breaks my heart how society has treated our children.

People wonder why this world is so violent and cruel. People ask how can another person treat a child in such a way.

Maybe the answer is because of how we treat our children. It's a violent and ugly cycle. Don't get me wrong, those who hurt children in any way should be punished. It's one of the rare issues that's black and white for me. There is no justification for any person to harm a child.

But, perhaps if we work harder at treating and educating our children better, maybe the world would finally start being a better place.
