"American Family Voices" Calling people in Fl
to contact Bill Young(R) and demand resignations of Hastert........

just got the call ...so went to their web site and sure enough:

this outrageous cover-up to resign now:

............shocked and disgusted that Congressional Republican leadership covered up for a child sexual predator in their midst rather than confronting the problem directly.

We call on Speaker Dennis Hastert, Majority Leader John Boehner, National Republican Campaign Committee Chair Tom Reynolds, Chair of the House Page Board Rep. John Shimkus, and any other member of Congress who has participated in this cover-up, to resign immediately. These leaders knew of these questionable emails at least 9 months ago, and ABC News has reported that pages were being warned to be wary of Foley by senior Republican staffers in 2001, yet nothing was ever done to stop Foley's appalling activities.

Further, we call on the Department of Justice to appoint an independent counsel to not only investigate the cover-up on Capitol Hill, but to investigate why the DOJ has done nothing to start an investigation when they had at least some of the Foley emails in question since July.

just got the call ...so went to their web site and sure enough:

1. that's it, call for all their heads
they should expand that list to include what I've been calling the dirty dozen

http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/001645.php

As of Saturday evening, nearly a dozen House GOP lawmakers and staffers have acknowledged that they knew of the initial batch of non-sexually explicit messages from Foley to a 16-year-old former House page, some of them for a year or more. These include Hastert <(IL)>; Majority Leader John Boehner (Ohio); National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Reynolds (N.Y.); Reps. Rodney Alexander (La.) and John Shimkus (Ill.); Mike Stokke, the Speaker’s deputy chief of staff; Ted Van Der Meid, Hastert’s counsel; Paula Nowakowski, Boehner’s chief of staff; Jeff Trandahl, the former Clerk of the House; and another Hastert aide and Alexander’s chief of staff, according to public statements and GOP insiders.

2. Cool! The whole damn leadership.
Frankly, if the fundy organizations want to keep their credibility with their grassroots, they're going to have no choice but to call for the heads of all the enablers. That's where the flock is going to go with them or without them. And they'll lose their power and funding if they don't act as horrified as the fundy base.

5. I heard the call. I got hopeful. YOU JUST DASHED MY HOPE.
I thought that this had been a Democratic organization in Florida, attempting to rouse the religious right-wingers against the Republican party. I calmly listened to the call, even though it woke me up in the middle of my sleep cycle (about 2 PM...who were they hoping to reach but non-working poor housewives, the only people at home at that time?).

I thought, "At last the Democrats are fighting back. Whoever-the-hell-the-Democratic-candidate for Governor is spending money on this. He isn't fighting to get people's votes for himself, he's fighting the Republicans in a different way. That's not bad."

Now you tell me it's a fundie outfit. Probably the same people who are calling all Democrats child-molesters and Taliban supporters in their Sunday sermons.

Thanks for popping my balloon, guys.

6. This IS a reason to hope
I got the same call too, here in Iowa. It sounds like this could be an organization
that is NOT made up of hypocrites, that will throw over anyone who offends their
values, regardless of party.

The Repugs get to own this. The fundies are reeling.
