Foley = Trial by fire for Democrats too?
I heard someone attack Barney Frank on AAR this a.m.

Do you think that if there is anything comparable on ANY DEMOCRAT it will get extra special attention very SOON???

How do we make a meme out of this? Especialy (if) when the ReNamblacans can't come up with anything against Dems that is any more trouble than Barney Frank?

1. What has Barney Frank done?
I don't think he's been trying to get dates with teenage boys.

9. Was taken advantage by his living in boy friend
From Wikipedia

In 1990, the House voted to reprimand Frank when it was revealed that a male prostitute, Steve Gobie, that Rep. Frank had befriended after hiring him through a personal advertisement, had conducted a prostitution ring from Frank's apartment when he was not at home. Frank had dismissed Gobie earlier that year after learning of Gobie's activities.

The Boston Globe, among others, called on Frank to resign, but he refused. The House Ethics Committee recommended Frank be reprimanded because he "reflected discredit upon the House" by using his congressional office to fix 33 of Gobie's parking tickets. Attempts to expel or censure Frank failed; instead the House voted 408-18 to reprimand him. This condemnation was not reflected in Frank's district, where he won re-election in 1990 with 66 percent of the vote, and has won by larger margins ever since.

11. Sounds like Barney was the one taken advantage of in this case,
instead of trying to take advantage of someone else.

I won't say Barney hasn't made some mistakes in his life, but the majority of what I've seen and heard of him is positive.

Foley, on the other hand, is obviously a devious pedofile wannabe. And I just can't accept that at all. Of course, we don't know how many pages he actually took advantage of over the years, either. At least, not yet. I hope his lust never got past the E-mail stage.

13. Frank was taken a lot of abuse for being openly gay
while Foley stayed in the closet and stayed with a party that is openly anti-gay. And for them to follow Gingrich hypocrisy to claim that they did nothing for fear of appearing "gay bashing" is ludicrous and disingenuous.

14. Is THAT the talking point now? That they didn't do anything about
Foley because they didn't want to appear to be gay bashing?

What do they call the "one man, one woman sanctity of marriage gays can't marry" movement?

Hypocrites!

3. They always deflect when attacked.
It's time not to worry but to stand up and quit being scared of this scum.

on an average anyway.

6. I suspect if they have any pay back it will be in the next day or so
But right now they are trying to deflect it to us in another way - by claiming this was a Clinton set up and that we are making hay out of a tragedy.

12. I hope not
But for the last 6 years I've been wondering why the hell Democrats don't stand up for themselves, don't ever insist on revealing Repubican lies, why they keep bending over backwards to help Bush.

I hope the answer doesn't lie somewhere in this scandal.
