Rep. Dana Rohrabacher stated this morning on the Doug McIntyre show that
if Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert was aware of the inappropriate
emails between Rep. Mark Foley and an underage Congressional page and did nothing,
Speaker Hastert should resign.

The same standard must be applied to Rep. Rohrabacher. Rohrabacher
should resign if he knew anything at all about the allegations against
his former aide and did nothing. Rohrabacher's former legislative aide, Jeffrey Ray Nielsen, has been charged with child molestation and possession of a huge cache of child pornography. Rohrabacher should resign if he used his power to influence the Republican Orange County District Attorney against pursuing prosecution of Nielsen or delaying the prosecution in any way. The case has languished for more than 40 months. Rohrabacher should assert his influence to ensure that justice is being done and our children are being protected from alleged sexual predators like Nielsen, not help out an old friend.
