Bush:"we're not going to allow the Democrats in Congress to take it away."

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/10/20061003-3.html

<snip>

During the debate on the Senate floor, one senior Democrat, their ranking member on the Judiciary Committee, compared the brave Americans who question these terrorists to the Taliban and Saddam Hussein. This exposes a dangerous mind-set on the part of Democrats in Congress. You can't defend America if you cannot tell the difference between the CIA officers who protect their fellow citizens and brutal dictators who kill their fellow citizens.

Another Senate Democrat said that allowing the CIA to go forward with this program to question the most dangerous terrorists we have captured would diminish the security and safety of Americans everywhere. If they feel we are safer without this program, the Democrats in the United States Senate need to explain to the American people which of the attacks that the CIA program stopped would they have been willing to let go forward.

We got a clear record on this issue. We know this program is making Americans safer, and we're not going to allow the Democrats in Congress to take it away. (Applause.)

7. I fear you're correct, but I don't know what it could be.
If another terrorist attack happens here, on American soil, it will be proof positive that the Bush Administration/GOP is not capable of protecting America. This will be two on their watch.

I think something like that would be a big plus for the Democrats, as people would finally see through the fog, and they'd know that the security at the airports, the illegal spying, the torture, etc., was all ineffective at fighting terrorism.

America would finally see that we are in more danger now, not safer, thanks to the irresponsible and ineffective policies of this misadministration.

13. But what many do NOT understand
is that the next terrorist attack on American soil will lead to martial law.
Elections will not be allowed.
That is how they will do it.

5. "We know this program is making Americans safer"
...and if 16 agencies says it's making it worse, they must be wrong?

Enough with the bullpuckey Elmer.

3. Of course, Americans are supposed to disregard completely the
fact that the Bush Administration dropped the ball totally prior to 9/11 with all the warnings, memos, and such that were ignored. Not that they weren't busy, of course, vacationing, golfing, holding secret Energy Policy meetings behind closed doors to make the oil companies richer, locking up documents that could incriminate or embarrass them in the future, etc.

The Bush Administration, The Republican Party, and their supporters are the ones who got us in this mess in the first place. So perhaps the Bush Administration needs to explain to the American people why they ignored all the warnings, why they didn't act on any of the information they had, and why they allowed 9/11 to happen in the first place.

Then they can go on and explain Iraq, which wasn't a threat, had no WMDs, and had nothing to do with 9/11.

Then they can explain why they've largely ignored North Korea, which actually does have WMDs. Tell us all about it, Mr. President. Tell us what you and your do-nothing Congress have really done FOR America.

6. 'We got a clear record on this issue. Really, why don't you, Mr. President
summarize all those averted attacks that your CIA 'interrogation' programs have stopped? Can you name one? How about a hundred? You are correct on one thing: "You can't defend America if you cannot tell the difference between the CIA officers who protect their fellow citizens and brutal dictators who kill their fellow citizens." Yes, I cannot tell the difference between the tactics of torture that you, Chimpy, have authorized and those of brutal dictators....so I cannot defend my country to anyone else in the world nor to God in his heaven.

9. Completely disregard the fact
that Democrats are Americans as well as Repubicans.
The President is SUPPOSED to be the President of the United States--including ALL Americans.
This says it all.
He is the President of the Republican Party of and by the Republican Party.
The division of the country is complete.
