New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote

October 03, 2006 1:22 PM

Brian Ross and Maddy Sauer Report:

Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.

ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18.

This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp.

7. Bush is praying this goes into "investigation mode" ASAP
so he can refuse to talk about it.

11. Wonder why this happened
bush trusts hastert to investigate huh....how come he and all the republicans booed Nancy Pelosi when she asked for the investigation at first. When the shit hit the fan..fatboy stepped forward like he was the first to suggest it....did not see on TV anywhere -- a clip of the republicans booing Pelosi...this is what is wrong with the media today. They are enabling the republicans more than anything.

12. everyone who booed had something big to lose
that was my take, ZERO voted when it came to the recorded vote.
Maybe the fbi needs to do some voice analysis to determine who the loudest boo'ers were...

9. But But but
Foley's spokesman said about an hour ago, that Foley is not a pedophile that his actions were the result of him being an alcoholic and he is being treated for that.

WHO BELIEVES IT....he is in rehab so he can get away from the press. This isn't going away in a couple of weeks.

13. Interesting poll
The FBI has launched a "preliminary investigation" of disgraced former Fla. Rep. Mark Foley over sexually explicit messages he sent to congressional pages.

What sort of punishment is appropriate for former Congressman Mark Foley?

He should face criminal charges. 5,343
Not sure. The case needs to be investigated further.1,625
None. He has already resigned from his position.353
Total Vote: 7,321

Almost 73% think he should be brought up on criminal charges.
