GM hires SEAN HANNITY for ads
Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 04:39 PM by TwentyFive
(10/2/06: Detroit News)
In what it calls the "You're a Great American Car Giveaway," GM is awarding five free cars a week through Nov. 6. But it has hired as the star of the promotion someone many Americans do not consider great: Sean Hannity, the conservative Fox News radio and television host.

Hannity, known for incendiary comments like comparing a vote for Hillary Rodham Clinton to support for Hamas or Hezbollah, is announcing the winners of the contest on his radio show -- only people who are listening for their name can win.

1. Heard this last week, and sent a letter of complaint
We will never purchase another GM car, compliments of their failure to realize that not all americans are republicans, nor do we agree with the outspoken words of Hannity.

2. I have to admit I am partly to blame for this
I've answered polling questions about GM by saying that I would never buy one of their cars because GM is an evil, anti-environment, anti-worker party.

They must have decided that Liberals and Democrats will never buy their cars anyway... so, fuck it... let's hire Der Seanenfuhrer.

9. They also produce a line of boring-ass cars
I would like to support the American auto worker, but they've only got about three cars that don't totally suck.

One's the Pontiac GTO, which is made in fucking Australia. How am I supposed to support the American auto worker when the guys who put the car I like together live in Australia?

The second is the Pontiac G6, which is okay in the way a Ford Fusion is okay--it's just decent transportation, not a car to get totally hyped over owning. "Hey! I got a G6!" That won't happen.

And the third is the Monte Carlo, which is only really cool if you paint the number 29 on the side.

You know... ...kinda like this.

Oh, they have the Corvette too. But when you're an old fart like I am, the prospect of a car with less trunk space than a motorcycle has isn't really all that appealing.

3. We really need to call GM
and tell them that every time Hannity blames the PAGES for Foley's indiscretions, they lose sales. They should not be employing the ENABLER and PROTECTOR of a child abuser as a celebrity shill.

5. I'm no Nostradamus, but I see a GM bankruptcy in the cards.
I mean, really, how blatantly desperate can you be?

6. Only listeners to Hannity's radio show can win the car. Boycott GM.
Why should I subsidize the free GM car going to a freeptard?

I drive a Honda. Much more fun to drive than GM cars...more reliable and better resale too.

After this, I'll never drive any GM.

7. Hello, Ford.
And I just emailed GM about it. "I would rather eat broken glass than listen to that show, so *I* can't win a car?"

Why not toss in moral bankruptcy for good measure? Junk bonds in search of junk endorsements.
