Foley is recovering from Priest Rape and Alcholism...and he has given |
|
his heartfelt remorse about what happened to him in his past and that it took him 52 years to reveal his "Priest Fondling" and he has agonized over this for his whole career.
He's now in treatment dealing with his "problems."
So sad...Mark Foley is a victim of Catholic Abuse!
:sarcasm: It took a couple of days for him to work this out with his lawyer....I'm waiting for the C-Span Crazies tomorrow morning!
His lawyer says his LAPTOP has not been Seized by FBI!
(well we all know why his Laptop wasn't seized)

23. Foley's a Roman Catholic |
|
and if he's going to use that as an excuse, it will be assumed that he was a Roman Catholic when he was a teenager. It's just too easy

Blame alcohol, blame the church, blame everything and everybody. But never blame yourself. :eyes: It's part of their Personal Responsibility Culture.

7. Funny how those memories... |
|
...just pop to the surface at times of stress, isn't it? I mean, there he was, happily having cybersex with teenage boys and chasing pages down the halls of the Capitol, never suspecting for one instant that he was a 'victim.' Then, when he's caught, suddenly these memories and experiences spring fully-formed to mind.
Well, he was a victim of abuse and a drunk, so I guess everything's OK then.

9. Friday Night Foley had his GREAT EPIPHANY...FLASH BACK |
|
"I am a victim of Priest ABUSE!" I have been living "in a fog of self revulsion for years" ....Mea Culpa.....Mea...Culpa!
I am SO GREIVIOUSLY SORRY!
Give Me a BREAK!!! :puke: He dressed in Ralph Lauren and enjoyed the HIGH LIFE down there in Palm Beach! All of a sudden he's "sorry" because he was SOOOOOO ABUSED..and it took three days for him to get together with his Lawyer for a STRATEGY!!!
Who could believe this guy?

8. I had always understood that sexual abuse is a cyle that |
|
freqently repeats itself with the abused becoming the abuser. If this cycle is true with Foley it is a sad and tragic situation. I know that there is great glee in seeing the repubs hoisted on their own petards, but the thought of any young child being sexually abused by an adult is abhorent, even if the young child has now grown into a 52 year old Congressman. So while I condemn what Foley did, I also acknowledge the tragedy that in many ways prompted him to do it. There is no joy in that tragedy.

10. Always assuming, of course, that there's even... |
|
...a grain of truth in Foley's 'revelation.' It sounds very self-serving and convenient to me. If he was genuinely abused, he deserves sympathy, but not exoneration for his deeds. If he wasn't abused and is merely saying he was to deflect punishment, they should throw the book at him.

11. We all suffer with those who had TRUE Priest Abuse that went on for years |
|
but this "convenient memory" by a guy in trouble who just happens to be a Catholic is just a "little too convenient" wouldn't you say?
Just the fact that the cables were on ALERT for hours for a Major Announcement from his Lawyer might have made most of us who've been watching the Repugs for years since they stole the 2000 Election...wonder what the "truth of it is."
I could make up any story with a Lawyer and PR Firm if I was Powerful and in the House or Senate to "cover over" whatever behavior I wanted...so why should I give Foley a Pass when he had three days and MEGA MONEY to concoct a Priest Abuse Story. :puke: It smells to high heaven...

12. So, we should re-instate the bans on Catholics holding public office |
|
Obviously, Catholics cannot be trusted with children or in positions of power.
Yes, I'm kidding.

they are powerful...or there are family problems or the person is dead and no one else has come out.

Drunk AND molested by a priest as a child. If only he also had ADHD, it'd be a perfect trifecta.

22. Odd isn't it...CREW reported this to FBI in July and nothing happened... |
|
but Dem Jefferson's office was RAIDED and everything taken to go over. Then Hastert put the clamp down on any more raids (protecting Congresses turf) and yet..this was all known and who knows where that laptop is?
Amazing...and it's only the Lawyer from CREW who reported this on WJ on C-Span this a.m.
