8. I had always understood that sexual abuse is a cyle that

freqently repeats itself with the abused becoming the abuser. If this cycle is true with Foley it is a sad and tragic situation. I know that there is great glee in seeing the repubs hoisted on their own petards, but the thought of any young child being sexually abused by an adult is abhorent, even if the young child has now grown into a 52 year old Congressman. So while I condemn what Foley did, I also acknowledge the tragedy that in many ways prompted him to do it. There is no joy in that tragedy.

...a grain of truth in Foley's 'revelation.' It sounds very self-serving and convenient to me. If he was genuinely abused, he deserves sympathy, but not exoneration for his deeds. If he wasn't abused and is merely saying he was to deflect punishment, they should throw the book at him.

but Dem Jefferson's office was RAIDED and everything taken to go over. Then Hastert put the clamp down on any more raids (protecting Congresses turf) and yet..this was all known and who knows where that laptop is?
