1. I'm listening, I was just about to post about this too, actually
Anyone who doesn't have this "live" now, but wants to hear it now, should click this link and pick one of the Live local streams:

2. "there were attacks every hour"... "now attacks every 15 minutes"
Hence the title "State of Denial".

3. Woodward implies * does not know how bad things are in Iraq.
He says he wanted to ask * if he believed the lies Rummy, Cheney and others were saying, or the facts which are very different. Woodward says he thinks * avoided the interview for that reason.

5. Rumsfeld took "Mission Accomplished" out of * speech, could not ...
get the sign down off the carrier.

Thus, Rumsfeld confirms the lie we all knew about: the sign was the doing of the WH, not the Navy.

7. I still don't trust Woodward
He works for the GOP. He was involved in the Plame outing and helped cover it up.

8. He just said he regrets the way he spoke about the Plame outing at first.
But he still maintains that, other than the Libby indictment, nothing will come of it.

I believe he's wrong, but we will see.

9. His answers were very abrupt and guarded. I heard him on C-Span and
he was asked about PlameGate and he clammed up about it again. What does he know? Does he know something about Fitz? Did he know investigation was shut down before it started.

10. I hope he's prosecuted with the rest of the GOP scum
He keeps spinning for the GOP and covering up for his despicable acts.

11. I don't know how many are still listenting to this second interview, but
...this is an Excellent interview!

It's with Journalists Mark Halperin and John Harris who have a new book, "The Way to Win: Taking the White House in 2008" which sound like a must read.

<http://www.amazon.com/Way-Win-Taking-White-House/dp/1400064473>

From Publishers Weekly
Halperin (ABC News) and Harris (the Washington Post and The Survivor: Bill Clinton in the White House) illustrate "trade secrets" to political victory with this penetrating examination of the personal lives and political histories of the biggest names in recent presidential politics. From the losers (John Kerry and Al Gore, defeated because they "lost control of their public images") to the potential winners (Hillary Clinton, who, they assert, will have a significant fund-raising and fame advantage if she runs in 2008), the authors extract canny lessons in political strategy. But they offer particularly valuable insights into inadequately understood players like Matt Drudge, whom the authors credit as one of the greatest forces behind the Clinton impeachment and the Gore and Kerry losses, and Karl Rove, a man who, regardless of one's politics, "deserves unique notice for one reason: he is an exceptionally good political strategist." The authors' analyses are savvy and unsentimental, without collapsing into cynicism. Though very topical, the book's comprehensiveness should make it a lasting piece of scholarship—an in-depth, indefatigable examination of American media and politics at the turn of the millennium. 12. Sounds interesting....but the way Halperin repeated lies about Gore
was disturbing. Harris was much better and the book sounds interesting, but I felt they were both kind of Pro-Clinton.

Halperin trashed John Kerry and the other Dems who were running back during the Primary in 04. He was on a panel of news journalists on C-Span and he said at the time that no Dem had the "stuff" to win in 04. He even took pot shots at Gore on the panel.

Harris was interesting and pointing out that Clinton ran by building a "Centrist Coalition" and Rove has run by "Wedge Issue" was interesting int he context. Also how the Media is run by Drudge and the Right Wing.

Interesting that neither mentioned the growth of Lefty Blogs since '04. It's like we don't exist...

13. Still....we are left wondering why Woodward freezes about PlameGate &
yet is willing to expose those around Bush.

Is it Poppy/Scowcroft's ONLY WAY of forcing a CHANGE on the "errant son?"

This was what I got out of it. Woodward has a "mixed history" relying on his Watergate Fame while seeming to go "conservative" with his first two books on Bush.

Did Poppy & Co. allow Woodward ACCESS through channels where Woodie said he'd write "favorable books" and then when the "WAR" went bad and Poppy, Baker and Scowcroft got nervous...allow Woodward to use his "good favor" from the first two books to get accesss to write the THIRD DAMNING BOOK?

When Son didn't listen to his Poppy & Co... did they then use Woodward once again?

Thats whats so interesting about Woodward's "Turn Around" AND...that he WON'T discuss WILSON/PLAMEGATE...and FREEZES when it's mentioned.

Woodward was only given ACCESS if it was for BAKER/Poppy...NOT FOR PLAME DEFENSE!

The Bushies do NOT want their Dirty Laundry all coming out... Woodward has to "contain it" for them.
