kerry - botox and orange face? |
|
in a discussion on another board, a conservative argued that kerry was a better candidate, but bush reLated with the common man better (that's the crux of the conversation - reLation to the common man, how the GOP was abLe to package bush as that and kerry as the antithesis) and in a passing breath said:
"Botox injections and makeup to look younger were obvious, and added to the facade angle. The orange face episode only accented it, drawing attention to the fact that Kerry's face was not his natural one."
i had the impression that this was just buLLshit from dregs of the internets, but after a trip to snopes (and finding nothing) and a googLe search that turned up nothing but RW bLogs/boards.

wrong with having botox to help you look better. would you rather see him with a frown? like bob dole -- remember that -- bob dole looked angry and then i think he got a brow lift or botox.
BTY - i'm scheduled for my botox tomorrow.

7. I think this is more crap. |
|
Kerry was allegedly orange two or three days before the first debate. Then at the first debate, ahm, he wasn't orange at all. I think that points to being photographed in bad lighting.
I also don't see the evidence of botox, as he has smile lines and frown lines and such. (Isn't that what goes when you get botox injections? I thought you couldn't get a full range of facial expressions? Besides, if you were Kerry, wouldn't you do an eye lift first and take care of the under-eye area? I mean really.)
Kerry has one of those faces that is full of angles and such. He can look different depending on the angle and the lighting. He looks better on the talk shows than he does in the Senate. Same guy, different lighting and camera position. I've seen pics taken on the same day that looked different. (Maybe he's been cloned and one is aging and the other isn't. Otherwise, I think it's just the lighting and the RWers are crazy or jealous.)

iirc he did have *some* botox. The orange face was due to bad lighting. Kerry was very tanned from his outdoor sports. There used to be side by side pics floating around proving it was bad lights, but I haven't seen them in a long time.

13. Here's the facts - Media showed early campaigning pix next to later ones |
|
when he had secured the nomination. The earlier pix showed a decidely worn looking Kerry.
What the media forgot or ignored was that Kerry had cancer surgery in Feb2003 and was still receiving treatment for a good 6 months after. The contrast in his appearance was typical of cancer patients. That's all.
Unfortunately the less mature aspects of the primary campaign pushed that whole botox thing using those pictures. Alot of it was done here at DU, even.

15. Pictures of him taken the same day showed no orange face |
|
the lighting in one picture made it look like he had something on, but it seems unlikely. Drudge trumped it up, very probably. I have a picture of an orange John Edwards from a different day. No one ever suggested that HE was wearing something. It was just a trick of the light.
And the funny thing about Kerry's face is that it can look different depending on how much sleep he's had, and the lighting. I've seen him look very smooth and youthful, and I've seen him look kind of hangdog-ish, in too close a span of time for him to be getting treatments and then having them wear off. His face also gains and loses wrinkles depending on whether or not he's lost weight or gained it. During the campaign, he lost weight, after the campaign, he gained it back. Really seems to depend on the day.
Also, I suspect, Drudge used pictures from when Kerry was getting radiation treatments for cancer, and then pictures of him after the treatment when he'd filled out a bit.

and to make Kerry look like he's a rich snob which he isn't. If you watched any of his campaign rally's you'd know that or get to know him as a person. Same thing with Al Gore and him being "too stiff" or "too serious." Kerry is an athlete and keeps himself in shape. He does all types of sports from hockey and bike marathons to water sports. Kerry's always been good looking.

25. Show them pictures of Junior with his Man Tan and Grecian 2000 hair |
|
We know Junior has fake tan and has his hair colored. One time Junior will be white and all blotchy and his hair will be gray and white...and then the next day Junior will be all tanned and his hair will be dark colored...and then the next day Junior will be white and blotchy and his hair will be gray and white.
So obviously it's fake tan that washes off and it's hair coloring that washes out.
So show this person some pictures of Junior with the Man Tan and Grecian 2000 hair and then another picture of Junior when that's all been washed off and washed out.

just a couple shots between the eyebrows stops migraines for up to six months (I highly recommend it for migraine sufferers), but it also immobilizes that part of the face. I challenge anyone to find six months worth of tapes where part of Kerry's face was frozen.

So they destroyed America just because they didn't like someone having a "legal" cosmetic procedure. I don't know if President Kerry did or didn't but I tell ya I am sick of people votting for superficial factors rather than see who gets control of the supreme court.
Hell my Aunt Beverly told me she voted for the shrub because Dubya likes horses. I turned back and fired at her, so that's a good reason to put social security in danger, and keep our soldiers in harms way in a fraudulent war. She hasn't talked to me since.

And I have seen him up close - he does not at all look like he's had any cosmetic procedures done. His skin is the skin of someone who loves being outdoors, and his face displays none of the signs of botox use (see Laura Bush for botox overkill). He clearly takes good care of himself, but then again, that's why he looks 20 years younger than his age.

I will admit, during the campaign, I occasionally found it difficult to listen to Kerry. That's why I noticed when he was pissed. And still do.
He was much easier to listen to when we hit the "2 months to go" mark in the campaign. He hit his stride then. We may never know if it was enough, unless we find out at some point how many votes Bush stole.
It still sticks in my craw how the Repubs gloated after that election, while simultaneously touting themselves as pious Christians. Um, can't quite picture Jesus gloating, guys. Ya sure y'all are Christians? If you have to suppress the vote to win, there is NOTHING to gloat about. And yet they did.

He was never orange. That was RW BS. From someone who has worked in a cosmetic dermatologist's office and has literally seen 1000's of Botox patients, I can tell you, he is not using the stuff. Not that there's anything wrong with it. If done right, it looks quite nice. Who gives a shit if people want to look better, anyway? It's no crime.
I saw John Kerry just last month, up close, in good lighting, for an extended period. He's gorgeous. Very naturally so.
