Ned (Lamont) on Joe Lieberman's Defense of Dennis Hastert
http://nedlamont.com/blog/1658/ned-on-joe-liebermans-defense-of-dennis-hastert

“Joe Lieberman just can’t bring himself to hold anyone in Washington accountable, even when the safety of our children is at stake. If Dennis Hastert knew that Mark Foley was harassing minors and didn’t do anything about it, he should resign immediately. Anyone who disagrees is morally tone deaf. The fact that Joe Lieberman says calling for Hastert’s resignation is too “partisan” demonstrates that he’s been in Washington so long that he can’t recognize the difference between what’s right and what’s partisan.

We expect Senator Lieberman to stand by President Bush on the war and other failed policies, but until now we didn’t expect him to protect a public leader who put the safety of our children at risk. Connecticut deserves better than someone who puts a twisted definition of “bipartisanship” ahead of what’s right for this country. It’s time for a change.”

5. My northern Fairfield Cty neighbrhood
has significantly more Lamont signs than Lieberman. Driving around this weekend in other areas I also saw alot of Lamont signs in the western part of the state. My BIL in eastern CT says he sees lots of Lieberman support - folks near the sub base, etc.

Larry King just asked Wolfie who was ahead and he said Lieberman and I about fell off my chair.
Can't we get rid of this repuke supporting ho?

Hastert covered for this crap for a long time. It is not partisan to show him the door.

Every single Dem should be reciting that at the end of every speech every single day for the next 5 weeks. Even better than asking "Have you had enough?". Don't ask the obvious or leave it open-ended. Tell the people!

12. Um, didn't Lieberman call on Clinton to resign?
Didn't he get "points" for his moral stand and moral outrage? And Lewinsky was an adult.

Why is this different?

on edit :
I haven't been able to find the original source for the remarks of Lieberman yet, links anyone?

I have listened to an Imus in the AM radio interview where Joe decries the way the scandal is being pursued as too partisan but nothing on Hastert's resignation.

18. The Impotent Shaved Lion
He's an ethical tragedy of extreme proportions. Lieberman is so angry and so bitter and so hateful towards anyone who DARED to vote against him by voting for someone else that he has auctioned off his diminished moral authority to any bidder - regardless of Party or affiliation but obviously the immoral underbelly of the Republican Party that gets and keeps Republicans elected at any cost to anyone. The ONLY thing that matters to Lieberman is that he not be voted out of office at his age with a resume he uses to try to fend off the voters cutting off his oft dreamed about and elaborately financed legacy.

To that end, however, Lieberman has become the leaking colostomy bag of our nation, defiling even the concepts he believes are being espoused by those who feed him money and say: bipartisanship, selflessness, paramount concern for the US. All this hinges on a brittle, vain conceit that only Joe Lieberman could ever protect the vital interests of Israel; that only Joe Lieberman can be trusted to speak for and represent Jews in this country. The look of enraged shame, of guilt and loss colored his face a ghastly bloodless whiter shade of pale when he learned he had been beaten by Lamont.

Lieberman is but a wounded and impotent lion, refusing to hear the gentle winds that call him to lie out in the far grasses where the sun is cooler, and dignity can still be found by letting the stronger lions fight for the US, and for beloved Israel.

LIEberman is such a slime that he would rubberstamp everything the GOP does, no matter how slimey it gets.

Connecticut deserves someone better, Ned may not be perfect, but he aint no LIEberman.

"If Dennis Hastert knew that Mark Foley was harassing minors and didn’t do anything about it, he should resign immediately. Anyone who disagrees is morally tone deaf."

You got it, Ned! This isn't about being a Democrat or a Republican, this is about what's right. Anyone who can't see that has got a serious problem.

I didn't know Joementum was supporting Hastert. Can the man sink any lower?? :puke:

31. Posting this on his blog is not campaigning
He should be asking for time on Bruce & Colin on WTIC in the afternoon, and on any other talk show in CT.

There should have been a full page ad in the Hartford Courant, New Haven Register, etc denouncing Lieberman over this.

Ned needs to get out there.

35. Of course he has. And he has a rally with your boy tomorrow.
"Unfortunately , Senator Lieberman thinks the Bush administration’s repeated efforts to ignore and undermine the Geneva convention is just something to laugh about, even as our military leaders say such efforts endanger our troops in combat. Maybe this sheds some light on why he thought it was acceptable for him to vote for the despicable torture bill last week.

Whether Senator Lieberman is pushing the war in Iraq, voting for torture, or defending those who are implicated in the awful Mark Foley scandal, George Bush has no better friend then Senator Lieberman. It is time for change."
