George Stephanopoulos: "Hastert will be gone in less than a week" |
|
They had Stephanopoulos on ABC news this evening and he was asked if Hastert would survive this. He said Hastert was toast and would not survive more than a week.

He's still going to run in the election for his seat, although I guess that could change also.

9. I hope it's both but I fear he'll just resign the speakership then run |
|
like hell in his district, like he hasn't for eons. This is a hardcore Repuke area, gerrymandered specially for him. Unless he resigns his seat, it will go Hastert again unless they have evidence of the Big Denny naked in bed with one of those pages himself.
He needs to be gone. I believe we (Dems) need to be clear, crystal clear, that we demand nothing less than full resignation from his seat.
The current calls for "resignation" are too ambiguous IMHO.
He needs to be out on his big fat ass, that is the only way Laesch has a chance here.

7. He'd be stupid to resign his seat |
|
because all he has to do is wait a month to know if he'll be back next year. His dilema is to ask is it worse for his reelection to have the headlines say he resigned as Speaker or that he knew about this and did nothing, or both?

8. Joe Scarborough is saying the same thing. |
|
Even the guests on his show agreed. They said a staffer would never turn on a house speaker unless they knew he was already gone!

10. Those who are turning on Hastert must know a lot! |
|
They probably have all kinds of details not known to the MSM yet. This is just starting to get going and who knows where this will lead.

12. Hastert is like Frank Fitzsimmons of the Teamsters |
|
Frank was chosen by Hoffa to conduct Teamsters business while Hoffa went to prison; he was thought to be so thoroughly under Hoffa's control, that he would vacate his Teamsters' position when Hoffa was finally released.
But ol' Frank got to liking his new position, and would not be forced out when Hoffa left jail.
I think ol' Denny likes being Speaker of the House, and he isn't going to go on his own accord.

13. See, I agree with this. |
|
His persona in the district is high school gym coach goes to Washington. If that were ever the case, this wrestling coach was corrupted by the bright lights eons ago.
The guy is as much a Congressional/Mafia playa as any that have walked the hallowed halls. He's wrung his millions outta his constituents, snowed this area with a Category 5 blizzard, and drunk the Kool-aid big time, so much so that he now believes he IS Jimmy Hoffa.
I just don't see him resigning shit.
He is back with his homies who are massaging his shoulders and speaking soft words of sophistric adulation. This guy ain't budging, and his 300 plus lbs have sunk into the soggy rainsoaked turf of Yorkville with a vengeance.
I so want to believe he is gone. I so want to believe he'll walk the plank but I just know in my gut he's a sand thrower in a fight. Watch out Dems. He hasn't gotten where he is being Mr. Smith.

|
little more than a rumor bouncing off the walls of the same echo chamber that is DC.
