Longtime REPUBLICAN Was Source Of Foley E-Mails (The Hill)
Longtime Republican was source of e-mails

By Alexander Bolton

The source who in July gave news media Rep. Mark Foley’s (R-Fla.) suspect e-mails to a former House page says the documents came to him from a House GOP aide.

That aide has been a registered Republican since becoming eligible to vote, said the source, who showed The Hill public records supporting his claim.

The same source, who acted as an intermediary between the aide-turned-whistleblower and several news outlets, says the person who shared the documents is no longer employed in the House.

But the whistleblower was a paid GOP staffer when the documents were first given to the media.

3. Okay. Now I'm wondering if that aide was once a page himself.
When I first read this post by Leopold's Ghost http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x2314623 I had significant doubts.

But learning that it is a GOP aide who outed Foley gives me pause.

4. Possibly
We're seeing how the GOP members can turn on each other. This outing could be a (personal?) payback.

5. In addition anyone who caught info presented earlier today...
knows that at least one of the pages who turned over the instant messages was a 17 year old page who was also a Republican.

7. ABC + GOP snitches + IM-saving pages = Rove at work.
Foley is just the latest bait tossed overboard by the WH to keep us sharks away from the really rotten carcasse, like last week's torture-detention bill.

What's a lousy Congressman or two when precious Chimp is in hot water?

10. ABC and MSNBC both said no democrats knew about Foley.
Hard to believe, but at least as the minority party, we can't be expected to police the wolves.

But this was not a democratic attack, by any stretch of the imagination. The concerned parent groups went live all week to make sure they were the ones initiating it, not the dems.
