Oct 4 (Reuters) - Following are security and other developments in Iraq reported on Wednesday as of 2045 GMT:

*BAGHDAD - Four U.S. soldiers were killed in an attack involving "indirect and small-arms fire" northwest of Baghdad, the U.S. military said in a statement.

AL-BAGHDADI - A roadside bomb on Tuesday near the town of al-Baghdadi, in Anbar province between Ramadi and Haditha, blasted the motorcade of the town's police chief, killing six policemen and seriously wounding their chief, Brigadier Shaaban al-Obeidi, police Major Abdul-Salam al-Hadithi said.

TAL AFAR - A suicide car bomber struck an Iraqi police and army checkpoint in the northern city of Tal Afar, wounding three policemen, two soldiers and nine civilians, police Colonel Kareem Khalaf said.

BAGHDAD - At least 14 people were killed and 75 wounded in a car bomb attack in central Baghdad which interior ministry sources said targeted the convoy of Iraq's industry minister. A spokeswoman for Fawzi al-Hariri said drivers and bodyguards for one of his deputies were taking the cars for fuel when the attack happened. She said two of the bodyguards were killed.

MUQDADIYA - Iraqi police said they killed 11 foreign fighters, including nine Syrians, in the town of Muqdadiya, north of Baghdad. Diyala police chief, Major General Ghassan Adnan, said police killed the men, who included a Saudi national and a Sudanese man, as they were trying to escape through rural farmland on the outskirts of the town.

RAMADI - A suicide truck bomber blew himself up outside the Iraqi army headquarters in western Ramadi, police said. No one other than the bomber was killed but a number were wounded, they added.

KIRKUK - An Iraqi Army brigadier escaped an assassination attempt when his vehicle was struck by a road side bomb in central Kirkuk, police said.

NEAR KIRKUK - A U.S. soldier died of wounds sustained on Tuesday when he was struck by enemy fire near Kirkuk, 250 km (155 miles) north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

MOSUL - Several mortar rounds landed at an army recruitment centre killing four recruits and wounding eight others in Mosul, a source in the army said.

BAGHDAD - A car bomb killed a man and wounded four others in the Doura district of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb targeting a police patrol wounded a policeman and a civilian in central Baghdad's Wathiq square, police said.

BAGHDAD - Insurgents shot a U.S. soldier dead on Tuesday in eastern Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

BAQUBA - Gunmen attacked a police patrol killing two policemen and wounding four people in the town of Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

MOSUL - The bodies of two people were found in the northern city of Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad. A source in the hospital said they were shot in the head.

NEAR TUZ KHURMATU - Police found three bodies near the town of Tuz Khurmatu, 70 km (43 miles) south of Kirkuk, local officials said.

NEAR TIKRIT - Police found the body of a man near the town of Tikrit, 175 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, local officials said.

SINIYA - Gunmen killed a translator working for U.S. forces in the small town of Siniya, near the oil refinery town of Baiji, 180 km (112 miles) north of Baghdad, local officials said.

RAMADI - A suicide car bomber wounded four policemen when he rammed his car into the entrance of a police station in the insurgent stronghold town of Ramadi, 110 km (68 miles) west of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.
