Republican strategist predicts many Bush-bots won't go vote next month
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0610/04/ldt.01.html

<snip>ED ROLLINS, REPUBLICAN STRATEGIST: Well, first of all, I think Democrats do have their intensity. I do think that they think they're going to get the Congress back, which is very important to them.

You know, there's probably going to be 35 million fewer voters in this election than there was in 2004. That was the drop-off -- was the drop-off from 2000. And my sense is that a giant group of conservative voters dropped off when they found out, at least according to Karl Rove's estimates, when they found out that George Bush had a drunk driving arrest in the closing days of the campaign.

So now we have a party that allegedly has a pedophile who basically was sitting in the Congress sending e-mails instead of voting to pages. And when the story gets finished, we may have been trying to protect him. So I think there's going to be a drop off.

And I think then if you look at the other parts of it where we weren't fiscally conservative, where we did a lot of things that we shouldn't have, I'm very worried about our side turning out and that's obviously what will do us in.

1. don't listen to him
any kind of overconfidence on our part is fatal - they have thousands of Bible-thumpers screaming from the pulpits every Sunday supporting their cause. This is just a ploy to get Democrats to relax and stop working to GOTV

3. Oh, don't worry, I'm sure that the IRS will go after those churches
for advocating political causes just like they went after the liberal church that had an anti-war speaker...

:sarcasm:

2. That ain't all that will do you in.
You won't be able to put a piece of paper between the Democrats that will be storming the polls. To say nothing of the independents.

5. The GOP sold out their base and the country
Yes, they will pay for it. Why shouldn't they?

I just want the W voters in 2000 and 2004 to realize how they so deeply hurt this country for their votes for W. They need to own up to it.
