5. Knives are out

Watch out: The GOP headhunters have their knives out. However they can't stop this Foley/Hastert/GOP scandal from growing.

Couple reasons:

1. Sex scandals sell. While much of the media is greatly subservient to the GOP this is only due to matters of money. When a big story like this gets out they have to compete with each other. Hence all former allegiances with Republican leaders are put on hold. Expect even FOX (Faux) News to even chime in a bit.

2. GOP leadership has to compete for rapidly vanishing funds from their "Christian" wingnut base. Now that even these cretins are PISSED about this Foley prevert and cover-up expect the GOP to eat itself alive.

3. GOP is so desperate they are cutting themselves to shreds. This is evidenced by FOX News changing Foley to a "Democrat" in caption. And alos the really stupid things Rush, Drudge and others are saying.

Gone is the lockstep discipline Tom Delay enforced upon his buds in Congress.

So the knives are out, but more likely to cut the throat of the GOP themselves.

11. I agree - the GOP circular firing squad

is never something that would have happened with Delay still there. And I'm enjoying watching them eat their own.

I think you're also right about Repukes being so disgusted about this and equally disgusted by the GOP's bizarre attempt to make light of it. I've seen a lot of evidence of Repukes leaving the party over this... they're thoroughly disgusted and are just not swallowing what the GOP is trying to feed them on this one.
