Foleygate could take down the entire bush regime...
Maybe I'm being too hopeful with all that's coming down about this predator and those that covered for him, but this seems like the tipping point in our favor. This could be what gives us the majority...at least in the house.

If the political winds continue to blow as they have been, the dems could be in the majority and with that comes subpoena power and hearings. It can only snowball from there into an exposure of just how criminal and immoral these people are.

Naive or hopeful...I'm not sure. All I know is that I can't help but imagine myself relaxing in front of the TV watching hearings ran by dems.

1. Wouldn't that hit the spot.
I even enjoyed watching the Whitewater hearings, in a sick, perverted kind of way. (I watch golf, too.) Imagine the possibilities.

Despite their incompetence, the House and Congressional races as a whole are still too damn close to call.

7. Here we come President Pelosi???? Right?
Bush and Cheney impeached and the Dems take over the House - she would be speaker - and would be third in line for the Presidency.

8. If The People's votes counted,
Bush would have never been, or continued to be in office.

The People are clearly against Bush now. It's up to the gerrymandered districts and the voting machines now.

13. I'm beginning to think that there may not be a rigged election this time.
Just a guess. And maybe HUGELY naive. But here goes ...

I'm seriously wondering if maybe some of 'em in Bad Guy Land are already conceding defeat. joe scarborough was on Keith's show tonight and intimated exactly this - that it's all over, even at rove's level - nothing much they can do at this point to salvage anything. I'm not sure if he was talking hastert specifically, or that other giant gorilla in the room - the upcoming election.

And it got me to thinking. What would happen, if the voters are now stirred up - BUT GOOD - by this mindboggling and ever mushrooming sex scandal (EVERYBODY gets off on a sex scandal, pardon the pun) - which has REALLY gotten their attention. With the exception of sloppy or crassly conniving font problems at Pox "news," this has the letter "r" all over it. NO "D." It's all "r." And now that the sex scandal has gotten everybody's attention, and their attention is drawn to how fucked the party in power is, all this other stuff, the Woodward book, contradicta's latest, the ongoing and ever worsening miasma in Iraq, our "old friend" the NIE, ALL of that is combining to reach a critical mass. The critical mass clearly indicates this is NOT the season to be republi-CON, and that the upcoming election is expected to be rawther a bloodbath. And as that's happening, we're all getting this continuous drumbeat of poll numbers that show bush dumping again, the republi-CON congress in deep doo doo (and getting deeper by the day) - especially because of the sex scandal that even the dullest minds can wrap themselves around, and the polls in the various races showing Democrats starting to gain SUBSTANTIAL ground.

Soooooo... what happens, in THAT kind of climate, where a lot of people have started to wake up and turn REALLY ANGRY toward the party in power, if the election is rigged and all these republi-CONS just somehow magically pull through anyway? I'm starting to think the people would start getting AWFULLY nasty, and the smell would just be TOO unavoidable for the media, which would start questioning the validity of the vote count. After all, they've now got their teeth sunk into some really meaty stuff (sex scandal again) and they're reacquainting themselves with hounding government officials and asking questions and doing backflips to keep advancing the story and dig deeper and deeper. I suspect that it'll smell just a little TOO fishy if republi-CONS win this time.

Knowing the master manipulator kkkarl rove is, I'm wondering if even he might be ready to concede this one. I've seen comments around here lately quoting various republi-CONS (in AND out of government) as saying they may just have to eat one from time to time in the short term for the sake of long-range dominance. scarborough even mentioned him by name in thinking out loud about this. They may decide they're gonna throw this one just to further sidetrack most of us. That would benefit them in that it would throw everybody off the Diebold beat. Some even might be lulled into thinking that the Diebold problem has thus been solved and there's no further need to pursue it. All gone! Not a problem anymore, see? Move on! Next? Which clears the way for them to fuck with the system again the NEXT time, the all-important 2008 election for the White House. To concede this election would throw sufficient numbers of hounds off their scent for awhile and allow them breathing room to regroup and go at it again once they perceive the coast to be clear. These people have never been beyond taking big risks, as this one would be, certainly. They might think it's important enough. Because if they rig this election and maintain their majorities in THIS climate we've got working now, the probability is high that there would be some shrieking hell to pay, and they really would be set back for a generation or more. They've worked too hard and come too far to risk that. They might decide it's just better and less of a headache overall to take one step back now for the sake of several leaps forward in two years - after most of this has died down and been forgotten. It's not the time to play fast and loose now - when ALL the knives are coming out, and are freshly sharpened.

Just guessing. Just guessing. But if you're thinking strategically, this can't be ruled out. Which makes it even MORE critical that we remain vigilant, and that we not fall into the temptation of complacency. They'll be down, alright, but don't EVER count 'em out. It's like thinking that because you've just fumigated the place against cockroaches that you've wiped them all out for good.

14. Who knows what these psychopaths will do?
It's very hard to predict what extremists will do. Maybe they'll bomb Iran and declare Martial Law?

My guess about the American People (repeating myself) is that will do the Russian thing... Vodka (you get the picture).

15. The adage about a dead girl or a live boy seems to be true
but I'm not getting my hopes up too high on this, your list reminded me of how many times I thought "This is the one, this is the one that can't be ignored" and how many times I've been disappointed.

18. Sexual predator stalking pages in halls of congress...
while the leadership looks the other way.

It's simple and to the point. Another thing, it's a black and white issue that most people are not very forgiving over. That's why this thing will stick (pardon the pun).

Keep saying it no matter the RW talking points of the day. Not one apologist can deny the abhorrent nature of it all and they'll agree...this kind of thing shouldn't be tolerated.

10. You Are Right ---- And That is Sad
Iraq, torture, war on poor people, will not garner the wrath of Americans. But Foleygate . . . . !!!

If this exacts some kind of political revenge, I will still be cheering section. But still disappointed that it took a sex scandal to do it.

20. I should
especially since I am broke and unemployed, but I do this for my own catharsis and the greater good - for everyone. So far, this is reward enough. Maybe, if America survives this mis-administration, I may do a coffee table book or sumthin'. :D
