13. It might be ads -- turn them off

I had trouble coming to DU and posting for a few weeks because all the pages would hang up on loading. Then I noticed at the bottom of the internet explorer page that it was always loading an add when it hung up. I also noticed that the ads had gotten a lot more dynamic, which means a lot of larger files to download. So, as a donor, I tried turning ads off and instantly DU started working and I haven't had a problem since.

Basically if you have dialup and ads on, DU won't load.

I'd say it's traffic. So many extra people coming for discussion on the latest juicy scandals.

I had problems yesterday evening getting on even with a super fast connection (10meg).
