Bella Update IV

Hi all:

Update:
We got word today that a hearing is scheduled for Oct 16. I don't yet have the judge's name, but it is one of two serving the immigration nightmare. Bella is still at Monroe. She has gotten one medication, but not the other three. The hearing no doubt happened as a result of our lobbying. So thank you folks for everything. Now we have to really lobby hard because the judge will decide if to deport her or stick her in detainment, or, set her free. We have to put pressure on the local media, and on the judge, as well as ICE federal level, who lost her file (read original story on this). This past Tuesday was week 3, if you can imagine.

If you are in Florida, let's plan a vigil at the Monroe prison. It is in the keys. We might be fighting for one person, my cousin, but we are in fact fighting all unconstitutional arrest and detainment of legal residents of this country. They first came for the illegals, now the legals, how long before they begin to revoke citizenship? ICE is doing massive sweeps and picking people up who have no voice. In that regard Bella is lucky. So let's make this our rally cry that we will not stand for people being treated like this in a democratic society.

Feel free to organize something, make calls and such, i cannot overtly do anything for obvious reason.

We're out here on the west coast, but my heart is with you and folks like Bella. My best wishes that you can fight and beat this thing!

BTW, I just dubbed off my old VHS copies from 1987 of Amerika TV series shown here then onto DVD, along with Nightline after the first night that focused on media in the Soviet Union then under Gorbachev, in the context of this series. It really makes you feel weird seeing video of Soviet kids break dancing to "One Night in Bangkok", and their reports of troubles in Afghanistan aired then when even Thailand now is in trouble too. I can send you a copy if you're interested. It's interesting how totalitarianism is so similar, whether it is the "capitalist" folks doing it or the "socialist" folks doing it. Probably is why ABC won't re-release it any time soon since "Path to 9/11" loving Disney owns them now, even though at the time one of its sponsors was Coors.
