Gotta' go 'way for awhile. Be back real soon. Need a break. |
|
As much fun as it is to watch the Grope Our Pages party self-destruct I have to say that the state of political awareness in America today depresses me. The whole point of what happened in the Foley Masturgate scandal has been lost in the salaciousness of a few Instant Messages. This isn’t about one sick man and the demons he lives with. It’s about a systematic cover up. It’s about winning at any cost. It’s about sacrificing a few young boys and girls to make sure the party stays in power.
What really bothers me is that it took a sex scandal to get the attention of Republican voters. My outrage has been directed at the party elite, the fomenters of policy, the leaders and movers and shakers like Rove and Mehlman. Not so sure I can separate those who place them in power and the power that Party wields anymore.
They lied us into war. WMD, ties to Al Qeada, mushroom clouds, yellow cake and more. The party faithful swallowed it like over-sweetened Cool Aid.
They tell us the economy is great and growing yet average income is down, working class people can’t get insurance and we have the highest home foreclosure rate in history. Here, have another ice cube for your Cool Aid.
They tell us that we’re fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them here yet every single intelligence agency says that terrorism is rampant and getting worse. How ‘bout a refill?
They lie to us because they don’t effin’ care about the truth. Only winning. At any cost. With any sacrifice as long as it isn’t theirs. Three thousand troops dead, twenty five thousand wounded. Doesn’t matter, stay the course. A hundred thousand civilians dead, three times that mutilated and enough radiation to poison a thousand generations in their soil and air. Doesn’t matter. Start a civil war that will destroy the entire Middle East and it doesn’t matter. Better to look strong and be wrong than be right and lose an election.
The party faithful vote for them over and over again because the Republicans say things are great and getting better even though EVERY SINGLE MEASURABLE METRIC SAYS THEY ARE GETTING SCREWED.
None of it matters unless sex is involved. Or gas prices go up.
I’m takin’ a week off. Gotta’ get away from this shit for awhile.

hopeful. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=2317811&mesg_id=2317811I'm not disparaging your need to take a break, but I've felt worse for my own self lots of times. Take a break, heal, and please come back!

It's late. And dark. And sometimes I just get so damn angry it isn't good for me.
All this death and destruction.
But it takes sex to get their attention.

3. At the point we're at, I'll take anything, flamin lib. |

Rejoice in the fact that people are waking up, and not all are as stupid as we give them credit for. If they aren't, and vote to get the bums out, we'll fix it. You have to believe!

you get angry. I do it all the time. When I find myself being angry from politic, I shut everything down and pick up a few good books and DVD. At times, I been away from my computer for few weeks.

8. Doesn't bother me a bit |

Americans already turned their back on the GOP months ago. Remember August? 60% said they oppose the Iraq war. They don't believe the administration anymore. Not about Iraq, or gas prices, or the economy, or terror.
There is a percentage that will never be convinced. Down to the wire, it's about getting them to stay home from the polls. If they won't vote Democratic, at least they won't vote Republican. It takes more than logic and reason to do that. It takes a gut reaction.
I won't be hard on that 60% because they didn't see things my way from the get-go. I open my arms and say Welcome, brethren. Help us help you, and join us at the polls...

I took a few weeks away a while back, and I may need to do it again. The state of the world and of our country can be a real source of stress, and can lead to despair. Take care of yourself, so you can come back refreshed and ready for battle again.

12. A sanity break is not a bad idea from time to time.. |

Sadlt is DOES take sexy stuff to get people to pay attention.. We have all been entertained to within an inch of our lives..
I sometimes have a feeling that if we ever got nuked, people would be loading their generators into their makeshift shelters and grabbing the DVD players so they could watch movies..
It's bread and circuses 24-7

The really sick thing is that even this will not crack their base.
The "libertarian" *ssholes will peel off over this, but the "morals" voters will refuse to "tar" the "true Xtians" with the same brush, and continue to vote for the pugligan party.
Yup.
