True, it's very desperate, including flat out simple lying (FOX attaching the "D" label to Foley multiple times on their crawl and captions, Hannity saying Monica was 19 etc.)

A lot of the talking points have not gained traction.

But the "Dems knew for months but held out saying anything for political gain" WILL and probably already IS gaining traction in feeble minds just through repetition, even in the absence of any evidence.

And, the new strategy is to convert Republican leadership malfeasance to a witch hunt against gays in Congress.

I hope it doesn't work, and backfires, but we'll see.

Everybody still think it's OK to sit back and watch the Republicans implode? Or that Democrats, including the LEADERS, have to be constantly on OUR talking points and keep the discussion on track?

They're throwing shit in every direction in the hopes that something sticks. The news reports and analysis I've seen seem to be pretty clear on that point. I think the longer this goes on, the more difficult it gets for them to come up with a narrative out of this.
