Republican Propaganda Machine is running at full RPM.
True, it's very desperate, including flat out simple lying (FOX attaching the "D" label to Foley multiple times on their crawl and captions, Hannity saying Monica was 19 etc.)

A lot of the talking points have not gained traction.

But the "Dems knew for months but held out saying anything for political gain" WILL and probably already IS gaining traction in feeble minds just through repetition, even in the absence of any evidence.

And, the new strategy is to convert Republican leadership malfeasance to a witch hunt against gays in Congress.

I hope it doesn't work, and backfires, but we'll see.

Everybody still think it's OK to sit back and watch the Republicans implode? Or that Democrats, including the LEADERS, have to be constantly on OUR talking points and keep the discussion on track?

3. Yes, that. My point is, that all of this, even blatant lying like that,
in the absence of strong voices countering it, eventually actually works on the many feeble minds out there.

It's called PROPAGANDA. It works.

7. Billo , Anniegirl, and Sean are helping do their part.
Tell me, are we currently at war with Eurasia or East Asia? I've forgotten.

2. I'm curious what the polls will look like in about a week
Will this whole thing be just a flash-in-the-pan, or will it have as much impact on the pubbies as it seems like? All I know is I'm more hopeful than I've been in a long time.

4. The point of my post though is to say how DANGEROUS it is to sit
back and just enjoy the show, and assume that the ridiculous things the Republicans are saying will have no effect. That might be true but shouldn't be left to chance.

8. Right now the repubs are invovled in a circular firing squad
They're throwing shit in every direction in the hopes that something sticks. The news reports and analysis I've seen seem to be pretty clear on that point. I think the longer this goes on, the more difficult it gets for them to come up with a narrative out of this. No matter what they argue, you can simply point out that in the last few days they've blamed everyone from Clinton to the pages so why should anyone buy the latest spin?

9. The point is, they create enough NOISE so that their target audience, the
loyal REPUBLICAN voter, just becomes confused, says "the Dems are just as bad, they held out this info for political gain" (with no evidence) and still pulls the lever for "R".

11. House of Ill Repukes is imploding on it's own
Edited on Thu Oct-05-06 05:52 AM by radfringe
HOWEVER, the Dems should be, at the very least, be ready to fight back

suggested talking point: Instead of trying to duck responsibility and accountablity by using every excuse in the book from "I didn't know" to "the dog ate the e-mails" - the Republicans should be concerned about the safety of the page program which is supervised by their leadership...

meanwhile - just heard on local news - hastert's days are numbered...

as soon as the repugs:
