Helen Thomas: Kissenger Says Victory in Iraq is the Only Exit Strategy
Helen Thomas: Kissenger Says Victory in Iraq is the Only Exit Strategy
By Helen Thomas
Thursday, 05 October 2006

WASHINGTON -- Say it isn't so. Hawkish Henry Kissinger is advising President Bush about Iraq war strategy? This is deja vue all over again.

The former secretary of state -- who served in that job from 1973 to 1979 and previously from 1969 as national security affairs adviser -- inspires too many bad memories of the Vietnam War.

.............................

The administration would prefer not to evoke memories of the Vietnam quagmire, the 58,000-plus American war dead, and its bitter legacy, yet it all sounds too familiar when we hear officials insist we need to "stay the course" and deride dissenters as those who want to "cut and run."

They seem to forget that "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

3. Good for Helen. I would have thought that the revelation of old
bloody Henry Kissenger being involved with this Iraq fiasco would have had people of all stripes screaming their heads off.

Apparently most people are able to accept the news that a freaking lying war criminal is back in a position of influence the policy's of this country.

4. Don't forget about how "we have to fight them over there so we won't...
...have to fight them over here" was another Vietnam catchphrase.

How long this time before they finally bust out the ol' "peace with honor"?
