After much soul searching and thought Ive come to one conclusion
The Republicans Hate America.

Thats the only thing I could come up with when I look at what theyre doing and how destructive theyve become .

They want to destroy the country as it is today and build it into a much different nation . Theres no other conclusions that fit when you look at the direction they are taking us under a complete Repub rule.

1. They hate life itself
They love death. Indeed, the "Death Eaters" in Harry Potter have nothing on them.

15. Yes, the Dementors,
with their putrid, bone-numbing, blood-chilling breath--forever seeking out the fatal weakness in their adversary and using it to disable him. Never forget that it's the Dementors who GUARD THE PRISON OF AZKEBAN, from whence none ever escapes. :scared: SG

6. But if its only us then
why are they destroying it? Theyre in charge. Theyre making the decisions. Its their baby and they are destroying it.
If you can come up with a different conclusion than mine Im open.

10. Oh they love America all right
The America of about...oh, say, 1940? They'd like to go back there.

Sometimes I'd like to go back there, too. Then I really start thinking about it. You can't go backwards. We have to progress.

21. They hate US and our US, indeed.

I am reminded of this telling scene from Spartacus. In it the Patrician (Republican) and wanna-be dictator, Crassus, is trying to convince the Republican (Democratic) Julius Caesar to betray the Republican party:
Crassus: For years, your family and mine have been members of the
Equestrian Order and the Patrician Party, servants and rulers
of Rome. Why have you left us for Gracchus and the mob?
Julius Caesar: I've left no one, least of all Rome, but this much I've learned
from Gracchus: Rome is the mob.
Crassus: No! Rome is an eternal thought in the mind of God.
Julius Caesar: I had no idea you'd grown religious.
Crassus: That doesn't matter. If there were no gods at all, I'd revere them.
If there were no Rome, I'd dream of her... as I want you to do.
I want you to come back to your own kind. I beg you to.
Julius Caesar: Is it me you want, or is it the garrison?
Crassus: Both. Tell me frankly. If you were I, would you take the field
against Spartacus?
Julius Caesar: Of course.
Crassus: Why?
Julius Caesar: We have no other choice if we're to save Rome.
Crassus: Ah, but Caesar! Which Rome? Theirs ... or ours?

I think you've nailed it on the head, TallahassieGrannie. They just hate our United States. You know, the one that actually tries to live up to the ideals of justice and equality for all ... the ideals our founders fought for. That's what they hate. These same people were Tories in 1776, and they are Tories now. We shouldn't really be so surprised that they're still with us. We, after all, are tolerant and allow them to survive. Were the shoe on the other foot, no doubt we'd be silenced.

Responsible government, balance of powers, accountability....

We're seeing the Republican's unmasking, unfolding before our eyes.

7. From Mark C. Miller's Book Fooled again
I posted once before.

Fooled Again: How the Right Stole the 2004 Election & Why They'll Steal the Next One Too (Unless We Stop Them)

This is a good an explanation as any as to why they do stuff.

It is not "conservatism" that impelled the theft of the election, nor was it merely greed or the desire for power per se... The movement now in power is not entirely explicable in such familiar terms... The project here is ultimately pathological and essentially anti-political, albeit Machiavellian on a scale, and to a degree, that would have staggered Machiavelli. The aim is not to master politics, but to annihilate it. Bush, Rove, DeLay, Ralph Reed, et al. believe in "politics" in the same way that they and their corporate beneficiaries believe in "competition." In both cases, the intention is not to play the game but to end it – because the game requires some tolerance of the Other, and tolerance is precisely what these bitter-enders most despise... (Miller 81-2.)"

I can see no other conclusion than that they hate this country as it is today and are willing to destroy it to get the country they want.

13. I think the people in control are people who perceive others as
enemies on the whole - they perceive all others as either serving their needs or, the only alternative, enemies. Sociopaths are like that.

People are only objects to them.

22. Precisely. We are merely "objects" to them.
That is extremely difficult for "us" to conceive because we value people. Try as I might, I simply cannot identify with such self-serving people. I,...just,...can't.

17. You know I used to believe in a two party system
I used to believe that people were basically good and can get along despite difference.
I used to believe that people can work together and reach for a common ground
I used to believe in compromise, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.
Thank you Gop for showing me what hate is.. :sarcasm:

18. The weak and cowardly always want a protective adult king
to tell them all is fine and "don't worry". W and the far right are playing this to the hilt.

I'd be ashamed to call myself a bushbot or republican.

Meanwhile our country is turning economically into a third world. Those who can earn enough to pay for housing, food, heat, and insurance are getting fewer and fewer.

20. I find it troubling as well...
that I do not have the capacity to understand why all these minds are asleep. But, the intoxication of power, and the world-view of the born-rich are something foreign to me. The infectious nature of group-think I understand, but in isolated incidents...like kids getting drunk and doing something silly. These people are like men who get drunk and beat their wives...but instead of remorse they relish their abuses.
