Chris Shays is going to lose. |
|
They are showing a debate on C-SPAN between Shays and his opponents for Congress. The Lady Democrat is very well-spoken and the young Libertarian may take a lot of votes away from Shays. Shays is trying to move somewhat to the right to appeal to the more radicals in his own Party. I have a hunch that the Democrat may win this race.

Unfortunately, money matters....is the Dem in financial position to battle? I hope so...I was very disgusted when Tennenbaum lost to that whack job in South Carolina in '04. The Dem (Tennenbaum) was also well spoken, articulate, and solid (fairly moderate, but overall very good). The Repuke was abysmal...Bob Jones, Jr. basically...yet...HE WON. In South Carolina I expect crap like this, but Conn is a better play for us. Lets hope Shays is sent to pasture.

4. This district leans DemocratIc. |
|
Both Gore and Kerry won the district. Clinton won it in 1996.

3. I know the polls indicate otherwise, but I don't see it happening. |
|
I don't know, I just don't see Shays losing. I hope I'm wrong.

13. The key question is: WIll they turn out to save Lieberman? |
|
If they do, Shays may be saved as a side-effect.

5. I'm happy to see Farrell doing well |
|
But, she was down in one local poll sponsored by the Stamford Advocate like 44-40. A few others have her up by similar 4-5 point margins.
It will be neck & neck the whole way.
I've been impressed with Farrell recently. The first time I heard her on radio up in Hartford, she sounded a bit stiff and she just spouted off talking points. She showed no spontaneity.
However, the last few times on radio, she has come across as much more personable, and didn't have to stick to her talking points. Even the RW host, Ray Dunaway on WTIC, said, "I like her," one time after she finished...

6. I'd much rather see Nancy Johnson lose. |
|
Shays is at least intelligent and he occasionally displays some common sense. I actually think he is one of the few decent Rupubs. His opponent, Ms. Farrell appears to be a verfy good replacement, though, and a superb campaigner.
Nancy Johnson, on the other hand, is your typical rethug hack. CT is way overdue to give her the boot.

This is a district I know pretty damn well. Born and raised there. I'd love to see Farrell win, but Shays is probably going to pull through.

9. You probably know better than I.... |

It was just a hunch as I was watching the debate and trying to factor in the psychology factor of voters.

16. Remember Kentuck, Shays usually wins by double digit margins. |
|
1998: 59% 2000: 58% 2002: 63% 2004: 52%

10. I live here and Farrell has a very strong presence this time around! |
|
Two houses that had Bush/Cheney 04' yard signs now have Farrell for Congress signs.

Farrell's presence is strong in your town. Granted, I no longer live in Fairfield County, but I did visit New Canaan, where all my family still lives, a couple of weeks ago, and I saw far more Shays signs than Farrell signs. I'm not sure that's evidence of anything either way, and I certainly hope that Diane is elected.

12. New Cannan and Darien are the most Republican towns in the county. |
|
That would be followed by Monroe and Shelton (white trash). Greenwich, Stamford, Bridgeport, and Fairfield are where she has to get the votes from to win.

18. I keep saying we need to try to split the Libertarian vote |

off from the GOP. That's the way to build a permanent majority.
Screw The Christian Right and their agenda.
