Anyone Else Worried that the ELECTION FIX IS IN? |
|
I certainly am. While all the indicators point to a Democratic Sweep of Congress this year, the Repub leadership (including Cheney & Bush) are touting that they will retain control. They've spoken like this in the past, and whenever they have, despite polls and news, they pulled victory out of thin air. What do they know that we don't?
BradBlog has already reported election problems in Ohio.
Until we fix the e-Voting issue, I will never feel secure that fair elections will be held.

22. Do we really expect the Repub leadership to come out and say |
|
"Well, we're self-destructing, and we'll be lucky if we don't get lynched on our way out of town"?
Yes, i agree that you can't trust anything that comes out of their manipulative mouths, but at the same time, they're electioneering to, just like we are.
That being said, of course the fix is in.

2. Yes. Just think how many repubs will be in deep shit if they |
|
lose control.
Think they won't try any and everything to prevent that from happening?

They are capable of doing anything and they are not afraid to do anything. The Rove mantra: The ends justifies the means. They are looking to completely destroy the America we all knew.

No inhibitions at all. They won't give up power willingly. They have already proved they do not care about the will of the American people.

that is why I have said to all those willing to sing hosannas DO NOT count the chickens before they hatch, or for that matter them scrambled eggs
The only way we will win is to have more people at the polls than even Diebold can reverse, and even then... I ain't holding my breath

We still have to overwhelm them @ with the vote and be ready to "go to the mattresses" this time. Sign up for election protection and poll watching this fall.

6. I think they're going to pull out all the stops in November. |
|
And I hope the Dems are smart enough to be watching for it, and catch them red-handed. Election manipulation has got to stop. Look what it's gotten us so far: a man in the White House who wasn't elected by the people. And he's done so much damage, it will take generations to fix.

they would not be handing all of this power to the executive branch if they EVER expected another Democratic prez. Nothing will change until we get back to paper ballots. I don't see a whole lot of Democrats screaming for them either.

11. Very nervous about it |

The GOP has everything to lose, everything. They will fight and steal as much as they can, their existence depends on it. They have gone six years without any investigations and they are what they fear most.

You sound like a bunch of paranoids people who have lost faith in the American Democratic process... and rightfully so. I am more afraid that a simple declaration of martial law is the way these guys are leaning. Seeing that in writing makes me think just how opposed that is to the Declaration of Independence.

16. It is a BIG problem........ |

despite all the assurances that the voting will be aboveboard and audited, WITHOUT a paper trail those are just meaningless promises. 'WE' have already seen what happens when a rethugliCON says 'trust me'.

It's just a question now to guess how they are going to explain away the theft.
Americans found:
Democrats soft on Security? They should stand behine their CIC now that we are at war with Iran? (I expect that too) The recent partisan bickering over scandals was such a turn-off?
Even Mark Crispin Miller more or less says we don't have a chance but we should turn out in big #s anyway.
Until there is a required paper trail, a truly auditable system in place, there is no democracy. Regardless of turn-out if they are adjusting vote totals in real-time then they can adjust them as they need and no one can ever trace it or know. Maybe we will have an actual voting system in place by 2008 but these fascists can do so much before then who knows?

THe GOPers figure that if they don't cheat then they don't do everything they can do to win. Nothing else matters but winning to the GOP.

25. I think in every area |
|
related to election and fraud the GOP has made progress even when strongly opposed. The pillars of their hopes are simply money, entrenched and advancing vote suppression, fraud, etc, and the media's deflection shield. The blather maintains a bold slipcover over this love seat but real clincher will be some action in the war/terror area that is completely in pre-determined WH control though even as an issue it is rarely approached much less discussed. Other surprises serve only as the magician trick of distraction while the vast fraud machine launches its blitz on all fronts this time, dwarfing what happened in 2004.
What can unhinge this is simply the determined voters, a major snafu in their deadly surprise, the tsunami of scandal and discredited bluster and media support. Money is also fleeing back to discipline in the case of NY where the AG that took on Wall Street is cruising to power along with a full slate of national leaders. I am reminded of the position of military armies, in retrospect hopelessly defeated, launching a mighty daring last campaign. Almost all such efforts fail miserably. Would that politics were as sane as the madness of war. None of what the crooks and liars have prepared is as important as the maddening, entrenched traditional GOP voter. Can they be mustered to GOTV when even the hinterlands are drowning in the tipping scandals and the incompetence of their party? Can they be stopped from splintering? Will they shut up when they realize there votes are being counted for their guys even if they didn't vote at all??
You can't expect lifelong GOP fans enjoying the peak of power(no matter the sorry results) to admit mistakes, grow a heart of progressive gold(though it happens), withhold support just from sickness of heart, hold their noses and switch their vote. But it will happen on election day no matter the deaf ear, the loyal nuttiness of their defense, their bizarre conditioning to hate Democrats who would not betray their service.
It is one thing to steal a presidency and another to sweep out to all the local districts. The first October surprise was a long delayed shot gun blast to the foot. I hope it augurs well that another such surprise will only do the same.

23. are they even going to do any exit polling? seems like after 2004 the poll |
|
pollsters said they weren't going to do them any more, or weren't going to release the results before the "official" count, in order to avoid 'discrepancies,' 'confusion,' etc.

24. they all know the fix is in. they are just pretending democrats are ahead |
|
so that when they declare republicans won we will be as shocked as we were in 2000 when they announced GWB was ahead of Gore after they had announced that Gored won, and as surprised in 2004 when they announced that Bush won and Kerry conceded.
i will be dead and burried before i believe the republicans with the result of any elections. bush taught them the blue print for stealing elections. poppy taught them the ways of covert stealing. and jebby taught them the intimidate the less powerful part of it.
the fix is in. bush knows it. rove has it. diebold will deliver.
we will be screwed again!
