that $1 out of every gallon of gasoline was going directly into someone's pocket - be it the Saudis or RNC!Exxon!BP!Shell!Etc. I don't recall the price of oil taking a 33% dive, more like a couple of bucks, so this was somebody's profit margin.
Normally, that would be grounds for an investigation into collusion, or wartime price-fixing.
