MSNBC: Pelosi Blocks Hastert From Naming Freeh To Overhaul Page Board
MSNBC: Pelosi Blocks Hastert From Naming Freeh To Overhaul Page Board

MSNBC’s Mike Viqueira reports:

Denny Hastert, it turns out, reached out to ex-FBI Director Louis Freeh. He wanted him to head up an overhaul of the page program, but it’s not going to happen now, for the time being anyway.

Hastert gave a call to Nancy Pelosi in Washington today. Nancy Pelosi said no, that’s not good enough. We don’t want an overhaul of the page program. We need a more thorough investigation. That’s something that both Democratic and Republican aides that I’ve just spoken to agree on, that Pelosi refused. So Freeh, for the time being, will not be heading up, as other news organizations have been reporting, will not be heading up…a probe, or an overhaul…of the page program here in the House.

8. Only 5 recommends??
I'd have thought a Dem making Hastert backtrack would have hit Greatest in 5 minutes. Anyway, good for Nancy, she's fighting tough and smart.

9. Why doesn't Hastert use the tool he has - The Page Oversight Board,
made up of two Republicans and one Democrat. He cut them out of the decision making on the "over friendly" memo. Now he is trying to cut them out again. Let them do their job. If they can't do it, THEN you can call in someone else.

11. Did the Catholic Church overhaul itself when molesting was uncovered?
This is ridiculous. What about daycare centers? How bout Uncles and teachers and all of the other situations where adults molest children? The system isn't broken. Nothing needs to be overhauled. They need to eradicate predators. All contact was made after they were no longer pages anyway. Just throw burkhas on them problem solved. :eyes:

15. Thank god! Freeh couldnt guard the WTC and he cant guard pages.
All he ever did was cover up Waco and participate in the persecution of Bill Clinton.

16. Freeh is a total disaster. He shouldn't even have a job period.
Edited on Fri Oct-06-06 05:20 AM by autorank
Do you realize that he opposed modernization of the FBI's information systems because he didn't like computers. What a genius...oh, and then there's the part about his waste of millions and squandering the nation's time through his alliance with the odious Ken Starr. No forgiveness, total awareness. This is like Kissinger heading up the 911 Commission. Freeh should be considered persona non grata in DC!!!

17. Does this mean
Does this mean we can stop bashing Nancy Pelosi for a while? That would be refreshing.

18. Well, done, Nancy. Freeh still has a lot of splaining to do.
I don't trust him either. I get hunches about these big agency heads. I felt that there was more to Tenet and 9/11 and it turns out my hunch was right. He DID tell Condi. I still think there's more to why Tenet doesn't remember Clinton's order to hit bin Laden -- something fishy there. And then we come to Freeh. That guy got away without ever having to face the waterboarding.
