LOS ANGELES - Actor Chris Penn has died in a Santa Monica residence, with no signs of foul play, a local ABC television affiliate reported Tuesday.

Penn, 43, was the brother of actor Sean Penn and starred in dozens of films.

He played baby-faced criminal Nice Guy Eddie Cabot in director Quentin Tarantino’s “Reservoir Dogs” and starred along with his brother in the 1986 film “At Close Range.” He also played Willard Hewitt in “Footloose” in 1984.

37. Here Is His Bio Page From IMDB
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001606/

He was bro in law to Aimee Mann, she is married to Michael Penn. Very sad I loved Chris in Short Cuts. A FABULOUS film IMHO! RIP big guy!

39. He was also quite good looking back when he was a kid...
...let's remember him this way, too:

Also, here's a good article from a few years back about him and what an underappreciated actor he was: http://www.salon.com/ent/feature/2004/07/22/penn/index.html

15. Had no idea he was Sean's brother
always liked his work without thinking a lot about it. A shame. When I first saw this I thought of Sean's brother Michael who has had some mild success as a singer-songwriter, then saw the picture and realized which guy he was.

Thoughts with the family.

32. A shame.
He played a gay character in an good film I saw on Bravo several years ago. It was a period film set in the late eighteenth century. He was much younger...wish I could think of the title.

40. What in the World? Why is Martin Sheen at the scene??

Escorted by police out a back door, actor Martin Sheen and an unidentified woman leave the Ocean Avenue condominium where it was reported actor Chris Penn, brother of Sean Penn, was found dead in Santa Monica, Calif., Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006. Penn's body was found inside the four-story condominium complex after police were called by someone from within the building, police said. (AP Photo/Reed Saxon)

42. Sheen is a friend of the Penn family
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,17940804%255E2703,00.html
Hours after the body was found, fellow actor Martin Sheen left the building from a rear exit with two older women, but did not comment.

Sheen is a friend of the Penn family, with the Penn brothers growing up alongside Sheen's sons, Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez, in the same suburb.

50. The woman looks to be Chris Penn's mother
She was in the movie "At Close Range" with both Chris and Sean (but she actually played their grandmother in that movie.) I'm just guessing, but the woman in the photo looks like their mom, based on my memory of her from that movie. Martin Sheen must be a good friend of the family's.

This is very sad. :-(
