LaHood might know something we don't know about Congressmen and pages
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2006_10/009666.php

RUMOR CENTRAL....Ray LaHood has publicly called for ending the congressional page program because "some members betray their trust by taking advantage of them." It seems like LaHood might be using the word some advisedly:

As the scandal over former congressman Mark Foley entered its sixth day, one Republican warned that there may even be further disclosures involving other politicians. "People are very, very concerned," said Representative Ray LaHood, an Illinois Republican. "They think there are going to be more disclosures."

Hmmm. A friend emailed this morning to say that he's heard "there are two more Republican members about to get swept up in this thing." Is LaHood hearing the same thing?

3. I hope so...
...we know that many of these Republicans are sexual deviants. We've all
seen the long list of Republican molesters and pedophiles. NOthing
would be more satisfying--than to see these predators outed and
shamed into the next century.

I'm hoping that every victim of any politician comes forward. This
cannot stand.

We might have a situation similar to the Catholic priest sex scandal.
All it takes is for one or two to come forward--and that gives the
other victims the strength to come forward with their own truth--and
the snowball grows from there.

Pedophiles believe that they'll never be caught. They live in their
own twisted parallel universe--and I hope that universe is shattered
into a million pieces, very soon.

4. "Closeted Gay Republicans and a Party in Political Free-fall"
Take a look at this, new today from Lawrence O'Donnell:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lawrence-odonnell/closeted-gay-republicans-_b_31040.html

Closeted Gay Republicans and a Party in Political Free-Fall

...

Today's NY Times has a chart that outlines the "key communications" in the House of Representatives about Mark Foley's inappropriate contact with pages. More than one of the names in the chart, which includes Kirk Fordham, are rumored to be closeted gay Republicans who have been working at the highest levels of the Republican leadership.

...

Now two Republican staffers are locked in a credibility contest: it's Kirk Fordham v. Scott Palmer, Hastert's chief of staff. Palmer flatly denies that Fordham warned him about Foley. Hastert's political life depends entirely on Scott Palmer's credibility. I can't find anyone in Washington who knows Palmer who thinks his credibility can survive this test.

It's no accident that the first call for Hastert's resignation came from Tony Blankley, Newt Gingrich's former press secretary. Tony knows that the scandal cannot die as long as Hastert and his staff are still in the building.

The Republican base--the Evangelical get-out-the-vote troops--are going to be devastated when they discover how many closeted gay Republicans were involved in policing Mark Foley in the House of Representatives. Republican House members know this. That's why momentum is building for a very quick House cleaning and a new Speaker by next week.
