Time to pull the plug on FAUX - cancel your cable subscription. |
|
or at least get a cable plan that does not include Faux.
I am sick and tired of being bombarded by right-wing facists on cable spewing garbage into my living room. I went to the extent of installing a new antenna to recieve all the FREE over the air high definition channels.
The point is that although a few thousand people calling thier cable companies and telling them they do not want the Faux filth in their homes may make the Faux channel and its like less bundled with just about every cable package options.
Faux free cable or cancel my cable.

There's Keith O, HBO, Daily Show and Colbert, all are exclusively on cable. I have a better solution - don't turn on Fox News at all.

11. yes, you can block it, but your still paying for it and supporting Faux. |

Jon Stewart - comedy channel Colbert - comedy channel
there is only one prime time news show that is even balanced or at least goes after liars and corrupt politics no mater what party, and that is Keith O.
HBO is just mostly crap anyway. cannceled dead wood and anything decent they had.
Point is that most of Faux, MSNBC and CNN is very, very right wing controlled, and I refuse to pay for it, or pay and just not watch it.
People, its not just a choice you make, but a sacrafice to eliminate your cable, but after a few weeks, and no 100$ cable bill, its well worth the trouble to pull the plug on it, and save money!
let me add, there was legislation to force the cable companies to give subscibers a CHOICE of what channels they want individualy, not forcing 'packaged' options. that would greatly help the situation. But, alas, the legislation died somewhere.

4. The V-Chip is your friend.... |
|
Learn how to use it, and you will never even know that channel is there.
I have recently added that channel to those I have already V-Chipped into oblivion, and it feels GOOD. I am also very vocal about having it shown in public places where I have to sit and wait for any length of time. In the doctor's waiting room, the car-repair place... wherever I have to wait, I just ask them to turn the channel or turn it off. I feel that the other side is outspoken to the point of bullying, and it has served them well, so now I just follow suit. You'd be surprised how happy some places are to get that request, too!

Just block the ones you wish and view the ones you want.. Easy as pie. I say blow up the TV and eat a lot of peaches though...

7. Can't you just not watch it? |
|
I don't watch any of the dozen religious channels, or three dozen sports-only channels I get. I'd be happy to have my cable company drop YES, and the Benny Hinn channel, too. And don't get me started on Rachel Ray!
Good thing my remote has buttons on it that makes the channels change.

Faux is just a blip on the cable screen - and you can block it out - I have cable for 3 reasons and 3 reasons only and they are listed in the title.

9. Well, they don't offer a la carte in my cable market . . . |
|
And there's too much on cable that I *do* want to see. So I take the easy way out -- I don't watch stuff I don't want to watch.
I realize that FUX news and the like derive some revenue, even if I don't watch it, but so do a lot of other channels that I have no interest in (or object to the spin therein). Again, without a la carte, there's little you can do about that.
Sure, you can abandon TV cable, or TV entirely (many have done so) if that makes you feel better, but that's a bit to much baby-and-bathwater for my tastes.
Incidentally, most cable interfaces allow you to create a list of favorite channels, so you don't have to even risk breezing by the wingnut dreck if you don't want to.

But here's the problem. I can't get a cable package that includes Keith Olbermann (who I watch religiously) without getting Fox News too.
But please be assured that the remote in my house never stops there any longer than it takes to surf on to the next channel.

If you object to Fox, just skip past it when changing channels. That's what I do.

Give up my Olbermann? My TDS? My Colbert? My Project Runway???
If a few thousand people gave up cable because of Fox it wouldn't make a dent in their business anyway.

18. You make a very good point, but you'll also miss the good stuff. |
|
I'm mainly thinking of Olbermann and Jon Stewart, but even though the MSM is RW, you'd miss the breaking news. We have that on all the time here.:-)
Perhaps it would be better just to tell them that you're offended by it. My mother has it on all the time and I wish that it was much tougher for her to find or that she had to pay extra for it, but I know that that's just wishful thinking. But I sure agree with you, since I'm afraid that she's become totally brainwashed. She once told me that she's against stem cell research, since this involves killing children, and when I asked her who was responsible for 9/11, dreading the answer, she told me that it was the Palestinians. That's what watching FAUX News teaches you...
And I've been stuck watching FAUX when my house mate, inexplicably, has left it on the TV. The first time I saw it, I was very confused, since I never turn it on. I wasn't sure what I was watching, LOL. But I guess he was just checking out the competition, since he's one of us and turned me on to DU. I guess that this is another reason to be able to access it. And there was the Clinton interview, which totally rocked. I didn't catch it live, however, since it would never have dawned on me to turn on FAUX News, or care about what they were showing...:eyes:
I'd also like to have channels that broadcast country music or hockey banned from my cable system, but that's probably just me.

19. DISH Network's basic package does not have Faux |

The TOP 60 only has CNN and Headline, which is bad enough. It doesn't have MSRNC either, but it does have Comedy Central and Free Speech TV. It's like $29 or $39 a month.

Besides being a broadband customer (via cable) I depend on programming from HBO, Science Channel, History Channel, C-SPAN, etc for my edutainment during the limited down-time hours I get.
For now, I'll just continue to not watch FAUX but keep my cable. Thats the beauty of a channel "selector" :)
Thanks,

Some people remind me of those who want libraries to ban books they view as "objectionable". They just can't resist the temptation of knowing that those bad books (or channels) are out there.
