Time article trying to smear Reid, Re: Abramoff
http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1151901,00.html

<<"But scoring political points the week before Bush's State of the Union address won't be nearly as easy as the Dems would like. Americans still hold Democrats nearly equally responsible for corruption in the capital, and at least a handful of Democrats are themselves implicated in the alleged quid pro quo deals that were Abramoff's confessed specialty. Reid himself took campaign money from Indian tribal clients of Abramoff just days before signing a letter to Interior Secretary Gale Norton urging blockage of a casino those same clients viewed as a competitor, a move which undercut the letter Reid sent to President Bush last week arguing that Abramoff "may have had undue and improper influence within your Administration.">>

If you thought that getting Deborah Howell and Chris Matthews to shut up was hard, think of how many different pundits are spreading lies. This article is a lie and a distortion. I suggest that DUers write back to Time with the FACTS!

1. NOT ONE DEM IS IMPLICATED.
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 04:08 AM by LynnTheDem
But whooo boy the US "media" don't want that FACT known, do they.

RACIST!

1.Indians are LEGALLY HUMAN and LEGALLY allowed to donate funds to ANYONE, rethug OR DEM, that they want to.

2. The Indian tribes are the VICTIMS. It isn't a matter of who they gave funds to; it's a matter of WHAT ABRAMOFF DID to get those funds (fraud) and with those funds (influence peddling via republicans).

3. Those very same Indian tribes have donated to Dems (and repugs) for DECADES.
THAT'S LEGAL.

4. "liberal media"...what a fucking joke.

2. My lettet to the editor...
"Massimo Calabres makes the accusation that "at least a handful of Democrats are themselves implicated in the alleged quid pro quo deals that were Abramoff's confessed specialty." Unfortunately, Mr. Calabres offers no evidence that this statement is based on factual evidence. In order to assertain the truth, I have done an extensive online search and have found nothing that substantiates the reporter's accusation that Democrats were involved in any quid pro quo schemes with Republican fundraiser and lobbyist Jack Abramoff."

Send your own now. Be reasonable and polite if you have any desire to be published.
