Dragging out old VHS tapes - re-watching the 2000 sElection...
Edited on Fri Oct-06-06 08:19 PM by Cooley Hurd
I recorded the 2000 sElection as it happened in real time from MSNBC. Ashleigh Banfield reporting from Palm Beach, FL with screaming Brooks Brothers rioters behind her with "Sore Loserman" placards. With 46 of 67 counties reporting, Bush leads Gore by 793 votes (of course, the official count was being disrupted by Bush operatives).

It feels like a million years ago...:(

...about a Gore legal challenge (William Christopher standing behind him).

Some time in the future, I'm going to digitize all of this and upload it to YouTube. It's quite fascinating, and sad...

2. K&R. Good memories!
I remember that night very well. My stomach kept wrenching, as Dan Rather kept saying that Gore, then Bush*, then Gore, had Florida... I went to bed, that night, believing that Gore had won...;(

3. Not really good memories, but it was the last time we had...
...an honorable leader. :(

5. Everybody I know kept whining, asking why we couldn't have Clinton, again.
But I know that they voted for Gore. I did, as well. And so did most of the voters in Florida. I'll miss Dan Rather's aphorisms during the next election. He really topped himself in 2000 and he was always the one I watched for election coverage.:-(

6. They decided that they won and nobody could tell them otherwise.
It was already a "done deal," no matter what the voters said...:grr:
