Emanuel has SOME nerve
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 05:52 AM by Caro
After criticizing Christine Cegelis, Democratic candidate in the Illinois 6th, and Howard Dean, chairman of the DNC, for not raising enough money, DCCC chairman Rahm Emanuel has real nerve complaining that he can’t raise the money he’s supposed to raise—and from Democrats already elected to the House!

From Daily Kos:

Deadbeat Dems

Not cool. Just five Democratic congresspersons have paid their annual dues to the DCCC...

Maybe those who won’t contribute to the DCCC are protesting Emanuel’s strong-arm tactics, creating “campaigns in a can” for his chosen candidates to run against local party favorites. Maybe those who won’t contribute to the DCCC prefer to help their own choices of candidates to get elected, rather than helping Emanuel elect candidates who will be beholden to him.

Maybe the candidates who have been stiffed by Emanuel should ask the House members who haven't contributed to the DCCC to contribute directly to their campaigns.

Maybe dkos' deadbeat search engine would wake up from it's long slumber I might be more forgiving.

submit search, go away wait for the blank screen, repeat.

from dkos front page: "Kucinich is also a deadbeat, who owes $125K but has only a little over $7K in the bank."

2. Umm I don't see anywhere in that link of him criticizing Governor Dean...
Or those people who aren't contributing are freeloaders. After all, The DCCC uses that money for their re-election. It's like the U.S. not paying dues to the United Nation. If the reps have the money they should pay their dues.

3. Rahm's Made A Mess Of The IL-6th Race
I think Kos is having a bit of buyers remorse in running the Tammy Duckworth bit on his site a week ago...it really let loose a local shitstorm that could all but guarantee a split local party and turn what could have been a pick-up in a district that hasn't had a Democrat in my memory (and that's one hell of a memory) and open the door for a DeLay/Hastert/RNC lackey to pick up where Hyde left off. This is a unique opportunity and it's being wasted by egos, power and money. A shame.

5. I used to give them money.
The last time one of their ilk called, we got into a shouting match.

I told him politely that my money was going to local candidates this time around. We actually have a candidate running against That Stupid Manzullo. I asked the guy if they had given Mr. Auman any financial support. He didn't know. I repeated my desire to give to local candidates directly this year. He got nasty.

I need to learn to hang up.

7. how is mr auman doing?
he needs a website, man. i talked to a couple of my friends in galena about him. he seems like a good progressive. i wouldn't mind contributing a few bucks, just for the purpose of growing the party. but he needs to at least get it on the web, there.

8. He does need a website.
He has a campaign manager. But that person does not seem to understand how fund raising works in this area. He is trying to bundle large donations, like the repukes. He spoke to our chairman recently. I think it takes money to raise money, and to hire a first-rate campaign manager. Auman probably has the campaign manager he can afford.

One has to gather lots of small donations, and do things like drawdowns and picnics to raise money here. Our committee gave him a substantial donation, and we plan to give more. There are only a couple of people in Ogle County who gave Kerry $2,000.00. This is a rural area. I think Jo Davies County has under 50,000 people. People here are far from rich.

He has to start getting his campaign material out now, too. Members of our committee circulated his petition for him, and we can knock on doors with election material, too.

This area often gets ignored by the rest of the Illinois party because we are not populous, and because we are largely repuke. But the state party needs to understand that that is changing. I am on the ground here getting out the vote. IIRC, 41.5 percent of my precinct voted Democratic in the last primary. It would have been nice if they could have supported Auman financially, and helped him with experienced campaign people. We could use the congressional seat. It is not his fault that he is inexperienced at this type of campaign.

Auman is an excellent progressive. I understand he did a good job as the mayor of Galena. I don't think he will beat Manzullo, but it will grow the party. We need to let people know that Manzullo is a rubber stamp of anything Bush wants. He will mess with Social Security, or do anything else Bush asks.

If you want to send him money:
Richard D. Auman for Congress Committee
P.O. Box 6566
Galena IL 61036

or: dauman@galenalink.com

9. do you know charlie fach?
i had a talk with him the other day, and he seems to think the answer is finding a really deep pocket. well, we would all like to find a deep pocket, but the thugs have them all sewn up.
the pda endorsement raised $10k for cegelis.
there is a dfa training session in moline in april. he would do well to send a few volunteers. it is cheap, but, like they say, priceless.
if he at least has a paypal account, i will send him a few bucks.
