My daughters get a flyer each year from their elementary school from the 'Good News Club' inviting them to attend this 'free' after-school club.

It's sponsored by:

Anyone else's kids' school have these people meeting in their schools?

1. Ugh! I was invited to one of those meetings when I was in 3rd grade

I had no idea what it was, but a bunch of my friends were going. My mom freaked when I went home with the literature. She wasn't opposed to religion, but she didn't want me mixed up with that. I just remember feeling really uncomfortable at that meeting and thinking it was going to be a party and being sorely mistaken. x(

On edit - We were Lutherans, btw, so I wasn't in their heathen target demographic. :D

4. yes
CEF = Child Evangelism Fellowship. they aren't affiliated with a particular church or denomination. Your standard songs, Bible stories, verse memorization, awards for bringing visitors, and snacks. Our school used to have them, but I don't know if they are still there.

5. The Winters in Eastern Mass. Might Suck, But...
... it's pretty unlikely that we'd have to put up with that kind of stuff. Religion is verboten in schools.

Heck, my kid's school even banned its annual halloween party last year because some people were offended by it, said it was religious (i.e., Satanism).

(It's so delightful to hear one's kid's school being lambasted on national fringe-Right radio.)
