115. Mocking...how?
From what I've known Williams has always been rather progressive.

It's never been cool for Hollywood liberals to be so. Alec Baldwin has taken many hits for being outspoken about being liberal and his career suffered for it as well. There's a large portion of Hollywood that IS liberal, but Hollywood for the most part tries to look impartial and seem conservative (ie. in casting choices, etc.)

Calling Hollywood liberal is like calling the media liberal in some ways.

If you'd like to share specifics, I'd be happy to consider them. :)

I received this bullcrap in a few e-mails. One quick search on Snopes cleared it right up. I'm not posting any snippets because it's pure garbage. Anybody who is familiar with Robin Williams' work would recognize that immediately.

131. Couldn't that have been satire?
That IS what comedians do, satirize current events to show how ridiculous certain situations are. Bill Maher does that. He frequently does spoofs at the beginning of his show, making the same cases the rw does--but showing how silly it all is.

Doesn't mean that was what he necessarily thought or believed--probably just part of his act, as a social commentator (part of a comedian's job).

:)

which is to make social observations, have to be smart--the good ones at least (Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Bill Maher, Lewis Black, Tina Fey-comedy writer, etc.)There are others of course, these are the ones that immediately come to mind.

130. He brought up some serious points
The number of civilians who have died in Iraq would represent a proportion of something like 500,000 in the American population, a point we almost never hear made anywhere in the media by anyone.

And he also reminded us that troops have been there for several tours of duty.

I love Robin Williams and tonight I appreciated his serious side, too.

He is brilliant, yes, but the way he hogs the entire spotlight - sheesh! Cutting off serious debate with inane impressions of foreign accents, interrupting important points, hogging the discussion panel and throwing the host off his timing...enough already! Bill seemed to be getting pissed.

I was at times embarassed for him and other times sitting there with my fingers in my ears yelling at him to shut up! Dick Clark is someone who has plenty to say and he should be listened to. Instead we got a one man show doing macaca riffs. It was one of the most disappointing shows I've seen. I hope he isn't invited back anytime soon and chooses to plug his projects in another venue, like Leno or Conan.

146. Robin Williams was a shot in the arm for that show
it has been fair to middlin this season at best. My very liberal involved activist friends as well as myself appreciated the quick witted truth spoken brillance of Robin Willams.

Instead of an hour with maybe a few good points made, last night many many good points were made and I for one can appreciate what is so sorely lacking in most "political talk".

I get tired of people going on and on and on saying very little to nothing. Robin Williams was a welcome breath of fresh air....Even Clark was really enjoying him.

121. Did anyone else hear the repug shrill humming and singing during
the "New Rules?" Bill was screwing Chucklenuts and repugs up, back and sideways in the monologue and all of a sudden I hear this la-la-la singing/humming in the background. I first thought it was Williams but I don't think so. I was hoping the camera would pan to her and we would see her with her fingers in her ears blocking out all of the awful things being said about repugs. Am I hallucinating? Did anyone hear anything?

She was terrible, horrible, nasty, loud, condescending, unnecessary, and a waste of space and oxygen - contributed nothing but repug talking points. She did try to play the "moderate" card by saying she thought the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy wrong and a couple of other things. The only problem with her - she'll say anything to protect her ass in a crowd like that but the minute she is back in the confines of the repug controlled Congress she will revert back to the usual hate speak. And vote accordingly. You honestly think she would go against the party leaders on "Don't Ask, don't Tell?"

Richard Clarke should have stayed home, the repug slug wouldn't let him get a word in edgewise. She pretends to be an expert on all things Iraq, Iran, Syria while sitting next to the real McCoy. Stupid woman.

133. I caught the the rebroadcast of Real Time last night at 12:00 am CDT.
Kerry was terrific. Lincoln Chaffee was OK. I absolutely love Robin Williams, but I really wish sometimes he would STFU and let other people talk. Richard Clarke, when he was allowed to speak had some very pertinent points, but between that scumbag Re:puke: Congresswoman from Florida and Robin, Mr. Clarke didn't stand a chance.

Why did Ileana Ros-Lehtinen keep pawing Robin Williams all night? I'm sooo tired of listening to her talk about her stepson in Iraq. She's a complete shill for the Pukes and added absolutely nothing to the panel but KKKarl's talking points. I also loved the fact that she had her own little cheerleading section in the audience. Typical...

Why did Bill even have Tweety on?? He added absolutely nothing to the discussion and I laughed out loud when Bill asked him whether he was a Puke or a Democrat, he answered "I'm a cynic". Maybe in your own mind Tweety, but really....

The "monuments in Washington" were rather lame as well, but I did enjoy the one with the Congressional sisters from CA (sorry their names escape me right now), with the eight ball, that was shown at the very end of program. Truer words were never spoken about how Bunnypants makes his decisions.

Overall, I'd give last nights show about two and half stars. It was better than most but not great.

145. I agree with you completely
Robin was great, but I really wanted to hear what Richard Clarke had to say. I do think that it was Bill Maher's job to get Robin to STFU a few times and ask Clarke some questions. I don't mind at all that Robin talked over the repuke - she had nothing to say anyway.

I still think it was his best show ever, I just really wish Clarke could have said more.
