WTF?!? Pelosi and Emmanuel have to "clear their names" over Foleygate?
Edited on Sat Oct-07-06 12:19 AM by Armstead
I kid you not. That's what some smug GOP jackass Congressmen from North Carolina and Gorgia said today on Hardball.

I couldn't believe it.

A Republican Congressman, Mark Foley, does outrageous things and resigns in disgrace. The GOP leadership in the House are caught covering it up, and are pointing fingers at each other.

And now these twerpy GOPers in Congress have the nerve to say that Pelosi and Emmanuel have to make sworn statements to "clear their names" in this mess?

Neither of them had a goddamn thing to do with it. The GOP are just trying to grab them down into the mudpit with them.

The Republican Party has hit a new low.

1. We win a month from now
and there will be a lot of sworn statements being made and it'll be Pelosi doing the swearing in of these jerks.

3. I just watched it on my DVR.
I almost fell out of my chair when I heard that one. Isn't it just absolutely positively amazing how much power the Dems have when it comes to scandals but not one damned ounce of power when it comes to working side-by-side with these cretins in the house and senate?

5. Emmanuel-
Dccc head, potent fundraiser, probably second most powerful in house minority, ex-Clinton assistant, and in my opinion, almost slimy enough to be a republican.

It was an outrageous performance.

Get them from those involved also. I am getting quite tired of Hastert's changing lies. Get him under oath.

8. They have to say SOMETHING...
Anything they say now is nothing but pointless rhetoric to fill airtime that not even the most brainwashed neocon would believe.

They aren't even deflecting at this point, more like speaking in tongues.

If they had any integrity they would just give up do what is right for America, and give up defending a regime that wants to destroy America.

28. Get it done
I say they should air their innocence loudly and proudly, ask to be moved to the first of the line so they can get it over with quickly, and then move on to uncover the real dirt.

9. I was so stunned by that, I played it back to make sure.
That creepy Patrick McHenry from NC said about the Foley case, "The only question remaining is what did Pelosi and Rahm Emmanuel know and when did they know it." He wants them under oath to answer that and said they refused.

He is such a fearless propagandist, I predict great things for him in the Republican party. :(

15. I first noticed him in a debate earlier in the summer.
I can't remember the subject, but it was ripe for demagoging and he was the most obnoxious by far of any speaker that day.

He has unusually short arms and was waving them about wildly as he spoke.

He bears some watching, and if Dems are smart, they'll put up the world's best candidate next time and try to knock him off.

He is gonna be trouble, and I think it's going to be hard to keep him away from the camera.

Richard Carsner: http://carsnerforcongress.s27.dotnetsql.com/CarsnerSite/Default.aspx

He's spot on with every issue. But I don't know enough about his district; I don't know if the College Republican twerp McHenry already has some built-in fan base that will get him reelected.

10. Pelosi and Emmanuel need to give them the finger over this.
They need to not dignify this crap with anything other than tossing it back into their lap where it belongs. I would truly hope that the Dems have learned something by now, and will not fall into yet another trap of inappropriately trying to defend themselves against bogus charges.

adamant about it--the same kind of smug bravado that has been the hallmark of the hitler right. I couldn't believe Tweety didn't shut them up. Maybe he had them on only to expose how loony they really are but he let them go on much too long

He even did a nice slam on Gingrich's morals when they brought him up.
Perhaps Keith O is giving him something from the reality based world to ruminate on. (hope)

13. This is not a new low. It's SOP. Won't work this time.
Sean Hannity is a hermaphrodite. I don't see why he has to push it in our faces, however. Unless he's trying to distract us from seeing what the Republicans have been doing. When Republicans molest children, it not only that they're into this sick twisted power thing, but they save money using your kids instead of a young looking male hustler.

what it's done for years now: attack. That's all they know how to do. Obfuscation, misdirection, character assassination- all that's worked like a charm up to this point. But this Foley issue is different. Everyone can easily understand this issue, and no normal person is going to defend a pedohile or his cronies who covered it up.

The propaganda machine is worthless here. Worse than worthless, in fact- since everyone already knows where they stand on pedophilia and pedophila coverups, they can recognize the lies and misdirections as they exit the liars' mouths. It's like taking the cover off some machine, and see all the dirty little moving parts. Every time they try the usual routine, they just expose themselves all over again.

17. The best thing to do is laugh in their faces - the onus is on THEM!
THEY are the ones covering up the perverts in THEIR party. :eyes:

If they won't uncover the truth, then the Democrats MUST do it. I am glad it happened before the elections and if it causes them to lose, GOOD!!!

23. This is what they're running with. The drumbeat begins.
Democrats have to get out in front of this.

Of course it's ridiculous (for one thing I doubt if the Democrats are competent enough to pull it off-they sure haven't shown that ability in the past) but once the Rush Limbaugh's and Sean Hannity's of this world start pounding away it will convince many people that both parties are complicit. It will convince those who want to be convinced that the entire thing is a Democrat Party Plot to bring down the good God fearing Republicans.

Edited on Sat Oct-07-06 02:12 PM by SoCalDem
Attack the opponent, the media calls on them to "clarify" the bogus attack..
1) they refuse and media says "hmm maybe they ARE covering something up"
2) they respond and media senses their eagerness to "clear things up", interrupts them so much they never get to actually say much, and media decides "there might be something there"

they will do & say virtually ANYTHING to stay in power; it's not about the war, terrorism, the euro, the flaky dollar, the constitution, or even oil for that matter...it is all about political POWER; raw and unbridled, it's all about forcing people to their knees while handing your cronies mountains of no-bid shit
