Washington Journal asking about Pelosi's 100 hour plan
Edited on Sat Oct-07-06 06:22 AM by Skidmore
What is with these Republicans and their railing about taxes? Do they even understand the purpose of taxation? Guns and taxes are mostly what they are fearful of. I didn't hear one word about anyone taking anyone's guns. As for taxes, let's let the bubbas fill the pothole on their portion of the interstate on their own. It appears as if each of them sees themselves as Atlas, supporting the weight of nation on their shoulders. How does one get such an exaggerated sense of one's own worth?

7. The average American has not benefited from tax cuts, unless your rich
none of them have helped us. Repugs can't see this.

12. One caller said negotiating drugs prices really means price controls
This guy is not smart enough to understand that big box stores and other businesses do this sort of thing every single day. They use their size to get better prices for goods and services. But he is a smart repug and has it all figured out.

21. Yeah, the deficit is "down" to $250 billion and gas is down to 2.50 gal...
Isn't that great! That's only $500 billion more of a deficit than when they took over in 2001 and only about a $1.00 more for a gallon of gas. If that is "great", I would hate to see what they think might be "worse"??

10. A Great Analysis The Other Day...
Democrats see government as the end to a means...Repugnicans see it as a way to end means. The big mantra of Repugnicans have been to "pare down government", but they're one of the biggest abusers of it around.

These fools don't realize how the tax game works...the money's gonna come from somewhere or you're not gonna have roads or schools or hospitals. By cutting taxes, this regime forced states and municipalities to cover their shortfalls by hiking local taxes...in many cases making people house poor. Or that this regime is fighting two wars...and where do they think the money is coming to pay for that? Of course they don't care, but they will when those bills come due and inflation takes off like it did in the late 70's. Repugnicans love to blame Carter for the high interest rates, but a major factor for the inflation of that era was the defecit spending and debts left over from Vietnam.

Plus Nancy's plan talks about hiking taxes initially on those who earn $200k or more a year...if you're bringing in that kind of coin, if you can afford the taxes...even though most will never pay their fair share cause of their special deductions and loopholes.

I've long said Democrats will need a good 3 to 6 months to survey all the damage the last 12 years of Repugnican abuse of Congress has done and to put a leash on this regime and their runaway spending and war. I like Nancy not making too many promises and being too specific since she and we have only a surface view of what's going on inside the government...it's sure to change once the real stories start coming out.

And tax the other wealthiest 400 Americans at 85% for the next eight years.
