When I was a boy they had this thing called 'Outrage'

they've cured it apparently, cause i haven't seen a real case of outrage since i was a kid. outrage is when somebody called you unpatriotic or reprehensible and you got all screamy and indignant, you would wave your arms about and spit and stomp and generally raise hell because your honor or integrity had been challenged.

for instance, if it had been discovered that the government was listening to your phone calls without a warrant you had a serious attack of outrage.

or if a stuffed suit son of a bitch sent your son off to war to die for nothing other than huge profits, you went into an outrage.

or when it was discovered that someone had fucked with the ballot box in an election, outrage would break out.

i'm glad that so many awful diseases have been cured, but i still yearn for the days when outrage ran amok. but now there are pills and t.v. shows and psychiatrists to handle the emotion formerly known as 'outrage'.
